Its been a little while since I have posted anything in here so here are some quick updates....
Picked up a carbon fiberhood that was cracked and needed to be repaired, rims that need tires, and some shots of the re-appolstered interior that I did.

Cracked Carbon fiber hood
https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1330711274

This is the hood after I fixed it, still needs to be sanded and clear coated, might do one more layer of resin not sure yet.
https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1330711274

With the left over resin & carbon fiber I did these peices, they also need to be sanded and clear coated.

Re: Build Time

Wish i joined the club sooner.. An H2B setup would decimate all.
225whp would have been no problem for an Hseries. But to get those numbers from a n/a B is pretty much impossible. the b would have to be precision built and red line at 11000. to make that number

Kaptain Keith 03-03-2012 06:21 AM

Re: Build Time

The numbers your looking for is the reason ppl go with a K or H

Re: Build Time

Friend of mine had a 98 spec itr c5 with a jackson supercharger. Only made like 240 whp. And spent alot of money doing it.
He now has a k20, headr, intake and kpro. 230whp
with his old setup, he was lucky if he could drive it for 3hrs cause the supercharger would get to hot.

3sgte@daspeedof 03-03-2012 11:31 AM

Re: Build Time

That's not true, there are a few high compression B20/v or ls/v setups that make those numbers, 11/1 pistons, stage 1 cams, intake, exhaust will get you to the 220whp easily, built right will cost close to what it would cost for parts with the other swaps, not including install, machine work or getting it rebuilt.

I know that an h,j,or k will get you to the 220whp with little to no work. But I want to be able to take corners, the weight distribution is not ideal for the h, or j. The k is much better but cost about 6 grand in parts.
That being for a stock untouched block, mine has been bored, decked, crank knife edged, balanced, and micropolished, and have a few bolt-ons
Only thing leaving me is something on boost or a bottle.
And that will only be until I go boost myself at the end of the year.

Kaptain Keith 03-03-2012 11:42 AM

Re: Build Time

Can you some how prove that you can easily make 220whp with a bseries.

And i will prove that setup will only make 180whp dyno tuned. Maybe close 200.

And, the torque will be sloppy.

And. To make that power, you have to redline it.

3sgte@daspeedof 03-03-2012 11:46 AM

Re: Build Time

N/A builds with dyno graphs.
I've linked the thread for you, the difference between those making over 200 are easy to spot, There are a couple of close to stock b18c builds that don't break 200, for you to compare against.

3sgte@daspeedof 03-03-2012 12:55 PM

Re: Build Time

Lots at this All motor dyno's from 2006 to present too.

Plenty of stock h22b's that are not breaking 200whp as well, and a few stock k's that are around 200whp to 220whp.

Yeah....Tyrone has put enough money and time into researching/building that block lol. This project started awhile ago (with great progress, and still going!). Digging the ride man, can't wait to see it in person

Re: Build Time

good job Ty, need to take a rip in it sometime.

I have a couple buddies running B20/v's.... both are over the 210whp mark. Big power but it costed them big money to get there.

Well done Ty!

Thanks Pat & Ry.
I Don't even want to think about how much money & time I have dumped into this motor & car.....makes me a little sad, but only because I know how much more I have planned for the car.

Next time your in town ry, we can hit up a jerk spot and I'll take you for a spin.

I won't have many more updates for a little while as I'm looking for someone to paint my car, or colour match a +98 front & rear bumper conversion that I picked up. But will have a few goodies in the next little while.

But if it means anything just take your time, spend the money to build the block, and it will reward you with reliablity, but don't spend more then 200 on a clean short block. I'm really glad you like it so far.

Installed my vibrant stealth muffler, put my interior back in with the carbon fiber airbag delete tray, Shifter surround, and cup holder that I layed with CF.
Installed my CF spark plug cover.
And did my rear breaks, but didn't get any pics of that. Also fixed my horn

Yea Vida, I'm going to pick it up from him this week sometime hopefully.

Small update
Swapped in an NRG short hub, so now when I put on my indicator I'm not reaching for space to change lanes, lol. Before I had on a 1st gen quick release & a first gen hub. I swear the steering wheel was in my chest.

Installed an amber clock, and my car is being dropped off tonight to get some skunk2 pro stage1 cams, skunk2 dual springs and titainium retainers.

Car is out of storage, and on the road, got my safety, will get my etest this week sometime, when I get the car back from the shop.
Intake mainifold will also get port matched to a 68mm throttle body.

Whats next.......Turbo or paint????????????

3sgte@daspeedof 04-30-2012 03:27 PM

Re: Build Time

Ok Guys, Got some work done this week.
Sk2 Pro stage1 cams, springs and retainers are installed. All I can say is that these cams put the car on a completely different level, I'm having trouble setting the idle properlly but I think that has something to do with the type of cams that I have decided to use.

Haven't ported the IM yet, as I have had 0 time to work on it this past week being as it was my gf bday on sun, but that will be done in the coming weeks.

Car pulls through every gear, will be uploading a short vid later tonight when I have some time to upload it. Sounds fuken bad a$$!

Re: Build Time

Sweet dude, that's awesome you are loving the new set up. Still havent seen this thing in person looking forward to seeing it this weekend.

I heard that when you put in aftermarket the idle gets a crazy.

3sgte@daspeedof 05-29-2012 02:01 PM

Re: Build Time

Well I haven't updated this thread in a little while.
Had got the car back on may3rd, then I got a 7day manditory impound on may 5th at 4:15am(my bday was on the 4th, lol). Got the car back on may 12th at 4:15am, and the throttle cable snapped off on me while I was getting on the 400 highway on may 13th, at 12am.

A string of bad luck but i guess things could have been a whole bunch worse but whatever.
The Damage.
The Valves have broken in cylinder 4, no scoring on the cylinder walls luckly.
So I need 1 new piston with rings, a new HG, and another GSR/B16 head.

I gotta thank Malice for giving me a good deal on the GSR head and offering to drop it off since I have no wheels, and nismo for hooking me up with 1 piston & 1 set rings. Hopefully back on the road in another week or two.

So much for a week or two, here is the aftermath or the rebuild if you would.
Some of you guys may or may not know of some of the Issues I had with my first b20v build in my last teg. Excuse the cheap bb pics.

https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1346796550

https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1346796550

So I've been ordering parts for the rebuild & trying to decide what to do with my car. But was starting to form rust on the rear quarters.
It needing a whole new drivers side floor from behind the pedals right to below the rear seats, and there was a power steering leak.

Forget the fact that my motor was now in pieces from what may or may not be due to a throttle cable snapping at 7k or the fact that my cams where not timed properly, left me in a bad place.
With lots of body work & motor work. I had a lot of thinking to do.......

Here is a pic of the Head & block, I can't thank the guys from barrie enough for stopping and trying to give me a hand, or even just for calling caa for me because my phone was dead when the car died.

https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1346796550

https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1346796550

So sad to see it go.

https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1346796550

But I found something better to rebuild with so it was a very easy choice. 98 RS integra on SK2 suspension, b18 bottom with a b20 head, and looks to be a chipped ecu plus a few toys that came with it. But the car was in bad shape as you can see from the pictures below.

Put my rims on and covered it for the night

https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1346796550

Had to pick up some ITR Doors because I couldn't find a set of +98 doors in white. Such a pitty to get everything installed, and I still have some issues to work out with the doors. Damn such an uncomforatable drive home.

https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1346796550

Put on some Optional Sides, removed the plastic tow hook, as well as the stickers across the windshield & hood

https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1346796550

https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1346796550

I also removed the boat speakers, complete interior down to the carpet, and swapped in my stock RSX leather into it.
More updates coming soon, as b20v will be back together soon, then going in for a fresh white respray.

Now onto how it currently sits, got some 98+ white doors from Malice & the suspension stuff from Nizmo.

Pick up some suspension goodies, will probably install this stuff this weekend maybe, depending on how motivated I am.
https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1346796550

Type R tranny, excuse the Shitty cell phone pic, before everyone asks yes it is labeled s80-30, stamped LSD on the casing, and when I put the axles in and spin them they both spin in the same direction.
https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1346796550

A couple of hrs into cleaning the engine bay. Couldn't even do a before pic it was so bad.
https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1346796550

Interior put, complete carbon fiber trim all around, need to install my steering wheel/quick release
https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1346796550

How My teg currently sits, need to get the body work done thats why the side moulding tabs are still on there.

Latest updates from this weekend
Got rid of the ugly angel eyes & installed a Carbon fiber hood, needs clear coat, and fitment is not perfect so it might come off shortly, still debating on it, installed my polished headlights.

This weekend I need to get a hub as my DS wheelbearing has gone bad. Might finally get some time this weekend to finish the side skirt then I have to try and install my rear brace & swaybar but depends on what the weather is like, and how lazy I decide to be this weekend.

Re: Build Time

32 Attachment(s)
So I haven't updated this in ages posting on the other board. Was about time I update my build thread here.

About a month after the pics above were taken some idiot ran a light, hit a bus, and then hit my front fender.
https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1366275392
The end carnage was a damaged fender, cracked rad, broken hub & bent upper control arm. Guy was a tourist in a rental car, gave the officer on the scene my info, took the car home. Ended up having all the parts except for the fender so I didn't bother going through insurance. I just picked a pair of white fenders for $50 a few weeks back.

Then the first week in dec. my integra was broken into. The fuckers stole my shift knob, and two foldout DVD decks one working and one I was going to use for parts, as well as the carbon fiber airbag delete tray that I made. I guess I should say thank you as they unplugged the deck rather than cutting the wires.

As a result of the break-in and the fact that a buddy hooked me and gave me some info on a steal of a deal for a b20v that needed a little tlc (a headgasket, and all headstud holes in the block needed to be hexicoiled, I didnt know it needed all of that, but for $125 it was still a great deal). I decided to put the car on a hoist and pull the b18 out of the car.

It lasted just shy of 3 months before thought I spun a bearing at least thats what it sounded like (I had dented the oil pan but don't remember ever hitting anything, so I was not getting any oil flowing through the pickup). I parked the car for a week trying to decide what to do. keep in mind I only found out about the oil pick up after I pulled the motor out. I wanted it to last 4 months but isn't that the story of my life. lol

The reason I needed/wanted about 4 months was so I could collect all the parts for the rebuild of the original b20v that had started this all. As well as a few goodies along the way.

First swapped out a compustar for another compustar, put in a few more security things so no more breakins, installed a deck thanks malice (Granted he has hooked me up with multiple parts, this was a freebe from him)

Then started collecting parts.
https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1366275392https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1366275392

https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1366275392https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1366275392

https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1366275392

Other parts ordered or soon to be aquired
- Password JDM 3point strut bar & cooling plate
- Walbro 255
- carbon fiber hatch with fal glass,
- good tires.

Then the final straw, My battery was giving me some problems, Had it checked and it was on its way out. So I picked up a battery, but it needed to be charged trickle charged, but I didn't know that, so after I hooked up the battery, I locked my doors and went inside for the night, I come out to go to work, and some idiot had smashed off both of my mirrors (replaced thanks again to malice he always comes through). So I said ---- it, parked my car in the driveway, and started pulling the motor

https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1366275392

The head is ready to come off, and the block is held in place by the two side mounts, ready to pill.

https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1366275392

https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1366275392

sorry no pics for this part of the update.

Picked up the block from graham @ Canadian Cylinder Head
He is amazing, I just can't say enough about the quality of his work, and how much of a good guy he is.

I almost feel as if I need a cleaner nicer shell to put this motor into now.

Block was assembled.
picked up an etd traction bar - not sure if I'm going to use it yet.
Also picked up an nrg hub spacer so now I can run a short hub + a slim quick release and still have a working horn.
:p

Every stud in the block was hexicoil'd back in jan. the b20v was in the car for 2months before I needed the block to finish this build, so the motor was pulled and well you know the rest.

When we were bolting the head to the block, the two middle stud were pulling up the hexicoil. Had to picked up some 7/16th studs from a small block 302, the block is now torqued to spec, and just about ready to be dropped.
Thanks to paul silva for getting the the two I needed asap.
Finally on my way home.
https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1366275392

I cleaned up the bay a little, and installed my rear mount & tranny mount,
https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1366275392

Still have to do the timing, and hopefully drop the motor.

Not even sure why I'm up right now, so why not update this right.
Started cleaning up my $75 transmission, I used some wd40 & a towel to start, will need to use a wire brush/wheel/sand paper to get this looking as clean as my motor, depends on how the weather holds up for the rest of the week I guess.
what is l4d ;)
https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1366275392

Next I installed my cams, and cam seal, which were almost as much of a of a 8!^$H as installing the timing belt correctly  I swear I pulled the caps off like 3 times.

Then I found out or realized that I was missing the belt stay by the crank & the crank bolt, but that has been how lady luck has been treating me so no big deal I guess. :headbang:
https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1366275392

Put the mount on, as well as the vtec selenoid, and a few other thing,
https://www.torontointegras.ca/attac...ine=1366275392

Next up is to finish cleaning the tranny, then to get it bolted to the block and drop it into the bay

Nice update tyrone, motors looking good, you def had some bad luck i see damn broken into smashed up..sucks my friend. hoefully car will be running soon so we can meet up :)

3sgte@daspeedof 04-19-2013 12:34 PM

Re: Build Time

Paul I wish I could say it was bad luck more like a curse, lol I'm determined to complete this and have it running sooner rather then later.

So as per usually I got a few more lemons, so I made lemon-aid,:P lol.
When I went to install the crank pulley, I realized that I didn't get the crank pulley bolt back, or the crank pulley timing belt washer, was also missing one flywheel bolt, and had a defective yonaka clutch disk(but I knew about this when I pulled my last motor)

I had a spare flywheel bolt at home, and I picked up the other parts from a guy in mississauga last night.

Pulled an all nighter after getting home at 11, got the motor & tranny sitting on the mounts, installed the accessories, ac, ps, alt, starter, in the rain by myself. Not bad considering I was doing this on 3hrs of sleep from the night before.

Only have to hook up axles, intake/exhaust manifold, torque mounts, dizzy, rad, wiring harness and then add fluids.....fingers crossed, it should start up, and be running by the end of this weekend

So I didn't get it running on the weekend, but not for lack of trying.
This was while I was getting everything hooked up.

Then I found out that my battery is completely dead, and would need to be recharged, so I picked up a replacement to hold me over for a few days until I can get mine charged.
But it still wouldn't start. Double checked my wiring, was getting fuel as my fpr was reading 42psi. I was sure my timing was spot on, but I couldn't figure it out. So at about 8pm on sunday night I packed it up for the night.

On my way home from work I decided to stop at canadian tire, and pick up some new spark plugs, dizzy cap & rotor, as i had just reused the ones that were in my last motor. After replacing those three things, she started right up.

But wouldn't hold an Idle, so I opened up the bleeder screw on the throttle body, and set my cam timing to intake-1 & exhaust +3.
Now the car runs, idles, and sounds great aside from my power steering being too tight.

Paul let me know about the rotors, and we could meet maybe thursday. I'll text you.

So I haven't updated this in a while.....so

No news isn't always good news.(long read) ---cliff notes, car broke, motor has been rebuilt again---- for a second time under two months.

Went to drive out to ottawa on a nice sat. afternoon, figured I needed to break in the car just a little more. The car was running great, so I was like the drive would be fine. I was making great time, and aside from a slight hesitation or what I thought was fuel cut at full throttle she drove like a dream, until lady luck decided to screw me, lets just say I lost the crank pulley bolt somewhere along the 401, about an hr outside of ottawa stuck in traffic behind an accident, the car dies, and won't start.

CAA to the rescue, 5hrs later I was back home. Replaced the crank pulley bolt a few days later, and she is back up and running.

The following weekend I drive out to scarborough/ajax, pick up my girl then drive straight out to brampton, everything seems fine, no spike in temp, but when I get out to brampton, I decide to stop at a gas station which is a block from where I'm going. When i leave the station all i see in my rearview is smoke coming from the back of my car and lots of it. I'm like f me, so I shut her down. pop the hood, and I'm hearing bubbling which I know can't be a good sign.

Dinner is over, and I have to get my girl back to scarborough, and me home. I don't see anything under my oil or rad cap so I drive the car back out to scarborough, my fluids are all topped up but when I get to her place more bubbling when I pop the hood. It only smoked on startup but was enough smoke to get me worried. I decided I was going to head home and tear into it....but the car didn't make it home.
One more CAA tow back to my girlfriends place

I was thinking headgasket, but didn't want to believe it. I had a trip planned for my cousin's wedding in a few days to jamaica so i say I'll park it and deal with it when I come back but only because I couldn't find a shop to look at it while I was gone, and didn't want to be out of the country and have my car left in a parking lot.

Well when I get back from an amazing trip, I find a shop that I can tow the car to that is willing to dyno tune and diagnose/fix the issues. The shop pulled the motor, and 3 & 1/2 weeks later the motor is all back together, timing is set, and ready to install back into the car.

The Damage.......
The head lifted, all valves on the intake were leaking, after getting the valves redone, had to get a replacement block, get it decked, bored and honed. Crank had to be re-polished, needed to replace the oil pump, crank, and one bearing needed to be replaced.

Motor rebuild was completed last friday, was installed on sat. and was dyno tuned last night. Below is one of the dyno pulls

So I have a few weekends of work ahead of me before I'm happy with the car for this year.
Next up is to replace the front fenders, get my mirrors, & side skirts colour matched to the car install a lot of the parts that i have been collecting. Thinking of holding off on the tail lights & hatch until I can get the bodywork fixed on the car.

Picked this up today as well... so my other big plans for the car will be on hold until next year, but still lots, and lots of updates to come...

Was too good of a deal to pass up :yeah:
