BAD DAY :mad: NEED HELp
 

sooo...i have a 01 integra and i had changed the front to struts with minor problems...i decieded to do my rears today.
My Dad parked on the one side of the driveway that is clear for working in the garage so i couldnt do it in the garage. I worked on it outside and as i was taking the rear strut out, the bolt snapped on me. :eek: FAwk!. So i try many different things like heating it up, wd40 even drilling the bold and using a drill bit extractor.......NOTHING! and than i dropped my new phone that i just replaced and than it starts 2 rain OUTSIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :willy: GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr soooooo my question is, the bottom bolt which is holding the strut to the control are snapped, but it snapped 1/3 of the way, so there is still 2/3's of the bolt stuck onto the control arm and is all threaded together........... any suggestions on how to get that bolt out?!?!?!

just go to acura by new lca for 200 for a pair comes with all the necessary hardware

Battling that bolt would be a waste of time. Just search around and you'll prolly find a good set for $50 somewhere. If you really want to go at it, jus do what dc24me said. No, I'm not a mechanic.....but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express :GrinDev:

yeah, that too. try pm'ing wildoutgsr or fuzzy ls bro, either one of them might have one. or if you want to add some bling, aftermarket forged lcas are relatively cheap too.

you're joking right? .... i had to get a new OEM lca 2 or 3 years ago and it costed me only like $90 and it had all 3 bushings in

lol when i had to get my gc coilovers it was all seized up so i eneded up buying new lca it came out to 200 with all the bushings except the bolt i bought the bolt from home hardware each bolt was 2.50

this is what jOO do man. get a grinder with a cut off wheel. cut the bolt on both sides between the bushing and the shock fork. with a hack saw it'll take you 3 days but with a grinder and cut off wheel it'll take you 2mins. be careful using the grinder.

next grab a propane torch, a big focking hammer, and a socket the size of the bushing. start to burn out the rubber bushing and punch it out with the hammer and socket (with a long extenion on it). once the rubber peice is on fire it'll punch out pretty easily. now you'll be left with a metal sleeve from the stock bushing. whipp out your hack saw and cut two slits in the metal sleeve, punch out the old metal sleeve with a chizel and a hammer.

next, go to performance improvments and get the energy suspension rear LCA bushing kit. now if you go to acura and buy a stock LCA bushing, that will have to be pressed into the LCA, however the energy suspension bushing is a two piece design that you just plop onto the LCA. you probably won't use all of the bushings in the kit, but the kit is cheap like $20-$25 or so.

the only other thing that you'll need is a new LCA bolt found at acura for $11. get that and re-assemble and your done. about your phone, PM clockwerk. hope this helps. :yeah:

3 days to cut a lca bolt? it won't take that long, even if you have the blade on backwards.

^it took us FOREVER to cut through it on glenn's car. so long that trenell and glenn fell asleep on the garage floor! haha

The other option to this is to cut off the nut welded to the shock fork and then take a hammer and a punch and hammer out the left over piece of bolt thats in the lca metal sleeve. This is pretty easy and all you have to replace is the bolt :).

i had that problem. just welded a bolt onto it and it came out like butter.

IM FINISHED!!! =) i heated the sleeve and than burn the rubber and than punched the bolt out. Than i cut the metal sleeve and than skrewed and hammer it out. bought new bushings but down side is that it cost me 90 bucks! but its a whole set of bushings. replaced the bushing and than stupid Acura gave me the wrong bolt. it was to short and now i gota wait another day so i can pop that bolt in and than drive.

buy urethane bushings, easier and cheaper to install, cut the old bolt off. all my rear bolts snapped when i did mine. I could give u a hand maybe. really easy to get it off.

btw: remember to coat that new bolt with TONS of anti-seize, just so you don't run into this problem again.
