The b20 bottem end

Default The b20 bottem end

Hi everyone, I have a few questions on this build. So i have a typical b20 vtec and now that im not driving my car for the winter season i figured now would be the best time on building the b20 bottom end. I first off need to know can i do it the longer way of taking the head off first, then unbolt the bottom end and carry it out instead of buying a engine hoist. If yes which tools do I need to take the head off and the the bottom end?

Once ive hopefully completed the first task of getting the bottom end out i want to send it in for the rebuild!! As many of us know the b20 and ls arent use to reving so high. I know i need to do Rod bolts (arp), balance my internals, and use a block guard. I really need to do the ENTIRE rebuilt thou Because it burns 2 to 2 1/2 liters of oil every week and thats when i never had the oil line and breaking in my clutch so not reving past 5000 rpm's. Clearly its the bottom end (pistons)

So if anyone could give any strong suggestions, advice or tips on both paragraphs on what tools I need to WHERE i should send my bottom end for a rebuilt, Like what shops and what not. Last time when i checked with Mississauga engines they quoted me $1600. To be honest I like the torque in the b20 definetly better then the torqueless b16. Like going from 2nd gear to forth and make 3rd seem useless. Like the torque is there in the b20. But would some of you say its worth it to rebuild and build the bottom end i have? For some of you that perhaps maybe learnd out of your pocket and experiances what would you really strongly suggest???

1. dont touch your motor if you dont know the tools to take the head off. no offense at all emplied, you just dont wanna do something like that when you dont know and ---- up your motor.

2. i cant believe you burn that much oil in a week, check for a leak, thats a ---- load.

3. with any engine you get whether ls or b20, your gonna need to rebuild the bottom to rev higher regardless. so if you want that, your gonna have to build it. just be careful with the tin cylinder walls of a b20 when reving really high.

oh and have you even gotten a tune?

In regards to the tools when it comes to unbolting im not doing it my buddy who lives fairly far whos a mechanic wanted 2 know before coming down

if he's a mechanic he should know :S

your gonna nead a few... 10, 12, 14, 17, 19 mm wrenchs and sockets, obv. socket wrench.

pliers, screw drivers (flat head and philips).

just a few, im not gonna think hard to list them all, he should know.
