Sky is the limits...the B16 has a higher threshold for N/A power...but the D15 is no slouch. I personally hate the B16(altho im running one lol) i think its a over hipped motor.

B16 will always have more "potential" but the D15 should NEVER be ignored(SOHC turbo'd car FTW). If its stock to stock race...B16a should come out on top

Over-hipped man. Everyone runs them. torque-less engines. very small range of top end power. and for what they are...they cost a ---- load!! I can have type-r power for $600, SR20VE(nissan's Vtec)

Listen, i have a 2nd Gen B16A(170hp) in my EF. I love it, its a good little motor for what it is, but in all honesty...its nothing to "write home" about. Its reliable, takes a beating, strong honda quality and is easily swapped into any honda(86-01 i think).

For the price, the power isn't justified in my opinion.

It all depends man. He could beat you if "this" or "that" happened. Take it to the track and race him and see who has the last laugh. I did that with my old set-up but i went a step further...i was called out by a friend of mine and I wanted to throw money down. So i did, and won

Not hating on b16s but they are slow for what they cost and what people make them seem like. My old d16z6 i would keep with b16s for first 3 gears..then id fall back because of the crappy gearing.

I have b20 with 146hp...thats 14hp less than b16 and i pull on every single b16 or GSR. Turns out ITR also...lol

d15b is good if you will be building it, its cheaper for internals than b16 and you can have a built d15b for about the same price of a stock b16. Then add some more coin and get a turbo kit and you got yourself a mean sohc turbo.

btw it would be first time i was to see a sohc teg lol. Would be interesting.

Truth, i drove his(Martins) car last night...holy fack it was quick for a basic B20 swap!!! Add some more coin into something like that and you have yourself a serious engine. Very impressed with it

i find the b16a trannys to be very short gear.
but it also a chipped acu with a gsr dash so that may have an affect of the shortness.
but i think the b16a is a very good engine in a da9 than a dc2 because its a very light car.

I'm using a b16 transmission (I believe) the plate with the code has been cut off so by rpm/speed we figured its a b16 transmission.

B20b is about 550$ and a b16 transmission is around 900$ all from importers. Isn't that roughly the price they sell b16 long blocks for? So imo getting a b16 swap = silly

my plan is to get a 92-95 hatch, b20 swap, and boost should be more than enough for me

I like my 00 SiR with b16a2, but I'm tired of it. Sure, it's decent, gets awesome fuel mileage and can pull on many cars with MUCH bigger engines, but it's just not quick enough for me anymore. That's why I'm building an LS-vtec and later, it will get turbo'd.

If I could go back, knowing what I know now, I would have bought a cheap eg hatch with a d-series and turbo'd it to the moon! lol

If you can get a b16 for cheap, it's worth it. If not, go sohc with turbo or b20/ls-v.

hugehumongo, go with ls and turbo that. Though I'm doing b20v and will be adding turbo along the line somewhere, ls would be a lot safer. Ls-v turbo even better as Mike is doing right now.

I've heard many people hating on b20 with turbo and tbh that is the only reason I'm doing this, to prove a point (not to talk crap about something you don't know).

But if I was to start over, I could just buy a gsr for same money or build a d-series over any of the motor swaps.
