AUTO swap to Manual

Hey All,
Anyone ever done a transmission swap from automatic to manual transmission? I've got a 97 Rs motor, and my buddy is giving me his 93 Civic tranny. Where can i get a pedal box from and how much do they cost? As well, does it have to be the pedal box for that particular civic? AS well, what other parts will I need for the tranny swap. Any input would be great!

ur not tryin to use the civic tranny rite? cause if u r, they wont fit....my car went through the same experiment....but i let a shop do it...

Tegmatic 04-18-2005 12:47 PM

so i'd have to find an integra tranny?

^ a hydraulic B series transmission, yes.

it's alot tougher for a 3rd gen i think. you'll need ECU, Tranny, Pedals, axles, linkage and stabilizer, clutch, clutch cable, ignition, flywheel, tranny mount, clutch switch, and i think a few misc parts,

gotta do alot of research before even attempting to even loosen a bolt. check team integra. there's info on g2ic about it but you're not a g2

Chyld 04-19-2005 02:52 PM

lol :P Do what Im gonna do eventually sell your automatic and buy a Manual G3 WAY easier unless you like a challenge but if you think its gonna be cheaper? It doesnt look that way from what I can tell.

Tegmatic 04-19-2005 04:04 PM

thanks for the input everyone
yea, i'm been contemplating selling the auto and gettin a gsr...
just wanted to see if there was a cheap solution to my slow ass teg..lol...

Well there is nothing wrong with automatics if you cant be bothered with a manual. I got my teg after passing my g2 with only 12 hours of driving in my life I wasnt about to jump into learning how to drive stick at the same time now that its been two years im cool with picking it up since im not all new to driving.

CdTriX 04-19-2005 07:42 PM

i can catch up to 5spd tegs in autocrossing soo.. auto's not as bad as everyone thinks..

Tegmatic 04-21-2005 09:17 PM

haha...agreed. nothing wrong w/ autotegs....stick is great, but if nething, saves automatic owners big bucks from avoiding all those speeding tickets. LOL.

call up ETD they are in newmarket, (905)953-9260 ask for John
they are the best shop i've ever dealt with i've spent thousands of dollars there on motor work and never have had any problems, they will even help you out over the phone, also they have canadas fastest all motor crx

I also sent a buddy with a civic for the same swap auto to 5 spd and it came out mint tell it was auto to begin with

high-octane 04-27-2006 12:28 AM

how much would a swap cost?

mardos 04-27-2006 03:48 AM

when i had my g2 i swapped from auto to manual it took 2 days of work to finish it but well worth it and i got it done cheap do to the fact that he had a car that was a part out so the parts were all there

JDM_gsR 04-27-2006 01:43 PM

Hmmm, doesn't matter if you teg is super fast...it's auto. Anyone can push the gas and go. No skill in that.

dc24me 04-27-2006 10:12 PM

dennis, if you get suzie's integra, you should do a tranny swap because all this love you're showing for automatic trannies is getting kinda ghey.

luksta 04-27-2006 11:23 PM

manual are quicker response in any way you look at it but that quicker response can get you that ticket that much quicker as well

CdTriX 04-29-2006 01:34 PM

i'm a lazy bastard =) stick requires effort... and besides that.. i commute A LOT... and it's easier to drive.. put it in D... and then enjoy the ride =)

JDMgsr- I'm not a push gas and go kinda person.. =) i like the twisties =) it's more like push gas and go around corners!

JDM_gsR 04-29-2006 04:15 PM

That's cool! I was thinking you might be doing drag.

We all know that it's not the transmission that makes the car faster in Auto slalom courses and that it is in fact the driver and that you state you catch up to 5spd tegs all the time probably means that you are one of these skilled drivers.:yeah:
