Default ATTENTION 90-93 INTEGRA OWNERS: Loss Of Acceleration Power Question

Hey all,
Just wondering if any of you have had any problems with your 90-93 integra when your just cruising or driving anywhere and all the sudden loser power while pressing on the accelerator, and you have to push in the clutch to regear the gear your in and grab the gear again to get going again?. This is what happens to me, i brought my integra into the shop recently and the mechanic did not find anything wrong with the car, but it happens alot when i just lose power all of the sudden and more frequently when i try to accelerate when im merging into the highway or something like that. Also when driving either 30 minutes out of town or an hour out of town the car shows the check engine light which is yellow. But it keeps going, as long as i regrab that gear every time! good old hondas. I just want to know if this is a specific problem that anyone else has gone through and found out what the problem is so i can maybe just fix it and keep the car, i hope to keep it for a long time, im still at 260,000 km's!. God bless and thanks in advance all!!.

first thing is find out what the check engine light means then go from there. it turns on for a reason and it tells you what the problem is.

$5 says it's an O2 sensor.

It's the check engine light.

What do you guys think about buildup in the CAT converter?.

To this day the car drives, so i am going to keep it i guess. Will replace the muffler, cat converter and see what happens from there. Either way it still drives. Good old hondas. Let me know what you guys think.

It only happens once in awhile that it does it though, i have been driving this integra everyday without much problems so far, its just the muffler sounds ronchy when i rev the engine, and it of course loses power when on the highway, or downtown driving on a straight stretch. I can fix it on the fly by regrabbing the gear, and it will either keep doing it or usually just keep going. The engine and everything has been looked at by a mechanic but she didn't find anything wrong, so maybe its the cat.. i hope.

did you find out whats triggering the CEL? you cant assume it a clogged cat until you find out what code the ecu gives you. find out what's causing the CEL before you do or buy anything.

Haven't spent a penny on anything yet. Me and the mechanic went for a drive to see if the problem would occur... and nothing came up BUT on the way to a city out of town it immediatly started doing it, the losing power. We know the light coming on is an O2 censor which has to do with something else, but is not an indicator of the actual losing power problem. But I really think it has to be the tranny or clutch, which either one is expensive to replace. I'm not sure if it's worth trying to find out the problem, but ill just have to drive it until it stops moving, then i know for sure i gotta find a new car, well preowned of course. But if anyone has any ideas, bring anything up.
