Default Anyone ever split open an HID JDM headlight?

I discovered today why my fog light kept going on and off ... the tube that the light bulb sits in which is coloured yellow has broken in half inside the lense. I think i may have to separate the lense and glue the thing back in there but i dont know if its possible to stick that headlight in the oven if the ballast and everything are attached.... anyone have any ideas?

why don't you take the ballast off and then stick it in the oven?

^ yea, isnt that what you're supposed to do in the first place, we did our TL headlights, and you must take off the ballast before putting it in the oven.

i actually just found the part that broke online... apparently its the same thing thats on vigors and older preludes and stuff.... they are called yellow fog capsules and apparently you can purchase them somewhere. I dont know if the sizes are universal to all headlights within the acura/honda family or what.

Nawaaz... did you follow some kind of DIY instructions to fix up your headlights? what did you use to seal them back up and is there any condensation now?

it was weird, the one that got a little condensation, was the one we used the glue on, and the one that didnt get condensation, was the one that we heated up the original glue and stuck it back together, so yea, let me see if I can find this DIY and I'll post up the link

The ballast just bolts on, removing a few bolts and it will come right off.

the operation is a tentative success... i baked the headlight in my buddies oven for about 9 mins after having removed the ballast. Finally split it open and used two part quick setting epoxy to glue back together the foglight capsule. After that i stuck it back in the oven for about the same time at 300 degrees and sandwiched it back together. As i was putting everything back together i noticed quite a bit of difficulty to get the hid bulb to seat properly... we put the clip down and it seemed to only wiggle a tiny bit so hopefully that doesnt bite me in the *** down the road. So now i'm waiting for condensation or a failed hid bulb lol... i hate cars... all that trouble because one tiny piece that is super hard to get to broke!

well now i've found out the epoxy doesnt withstand high enough heat. As i was driving home there was smoke inside the headlight... just cant win with this thing.
