Alarm System too Sensitive..

Alarm System too Sensitive..
When I play my music or even wash my car when the engine is off or when I am outside of the car I have "auto-locking" doors that will lock 2-3 minutes after I get out of the car, but its too sensitive and will start going off when I run it even on the battery. What can I do?

What kind of alarm system do you have??? (e.g. CompuStar brands have sensitivity switch on their modules(black looking box) which is tucked under your steering column after installation...) Well most of them or just above your pedals....

How did you do that did you just buy a toggle switch and set it up inside your car and tap into the red wire then ground to the Chassis or did you set something u in the engine bay?
It gets really annoyin when I'm cleaning my car or working on it with the stereo on and when the base rumbles or when I'm washing the car, etc. th alarm goes off everytime now, only way to stop it is to leave the door open so it doesn't automatically initiate.

Thats exactly what I had.. Its a toggle switch, and the alarm can be activated/de-activated only with the ignition on. So no one can break the window and simply turn the alarm off.. Anyways, when I get the chance I will look into how I did it again. But every alarm is different, so the way mine is set up may not work with yours. Mine is some cheap *** avital or something like that. I'm ripping it out soon if your interested. I got a 2-way pager alarm now, just have to find time to put it in

Does your alarm have a external knock senser? I know some dont, which makes it impossible to adjust.. I will look into it on the weekend. My doors used to auto lock too with the alarm so I cut that wire..

you need to reprogram your alarm for active arming, where you press a button for it to activate along with turning down your sensitivity on your shock sensor. if you don't have the instructions, locate the brain find the model number and go to the manufacturer's website and download the manual. if you can't figure out to do it, some shops may be willing to do it for you for a small fee.
