Default Airbox cover...on or off?

Had the front end off my car the other day and from what i can see the intake starts from the side wall off the engine bay. Would it do anything besides make my car louder if i took the airbox cover off. I just bought a K&N filter and it has shiny chrome on it:shocked:

just makes it louder.. and could possibly perform worse, as the heat from the engine isn't shielded

i did this until i got my aem v2... just for the hell of it :P
left it all in, just simply took that cover off.. now it's all out though, much nicer

Leave it on - taking it off takes in the undhood air which is warmer.

If the temps are extremly cooler like in september at night, you can lose as much as 2 hp by taking it off.
