Default Aftermarket rad and oil catch can

Is it really worth it to get an aftermarket rad fan. I was looking at this mishimoto one for 80$

MISHIMOTO SLIM ELECTRIC FAN - ALL SIZES :: COOLING FANS :: COOLING (RADIATOR) :: ENGINE :: weksos industries

And is it worth it to get this

CUSCO OIL CATCH TANK (9MM) :: OIL SYSTEM :: ENGINE :: weksos industries

Last edited by JDM_overdose; Jan 15, 2010 at 11:16 PM. Reason: Ment to say.... Rad Fan.

Catch can is needed when you have a built engine or turbo. Otherwise the stock pcv system is good enough.
For rads, why would you want to upgrade? Is yours bad? If not then don't bother.
I got myself a brand new stock rad and whether I'm booting the car or stuck in stop and go traffic on a hot day, temp stays put. As long as you have clean coolant, good rad cap and good thermostat, you will not have any problems with the stock setup.

dont fix something that isnt broken lol. and a catch can is a nice thing to add. a bit overkill, but does keep oil vapours from being sent into the intake and combusted. more just bling if you ask me, i'd just make my own.

lol all you need is 2 1/4" brass fittings, a metal can (those hard water bottle ones work and they come in colours lol) and some rubber hose. pretty much it.

here lol www.aaronreedbaker.com DIY oil catch can

Yeah I saw, ill send it in few days.
Also I really don't see a point of a catch can on stock setup. Nor paying this much money. Can get cheaper ones of ebay, or even make your own out of a metal water canister and few fittings.
Also when you put it on, you will notice that the blowby is very minimal. Also you must understand for it to be functional one of the best ways is to drill into the valve cover but not go through the baffle and tap in or weld in bungs. And tbh after all that work you'll see that the can stays pretty much empty with few oil specs here and there.
Really not worth it. But that's just my point of view.

umm yes, to drain the oil that build up in there lol. its a "catch" can, it collects junk that needs t be emptied, and that allows you to do so without taking it out of the car.

Right right. but it has a lid on the top. And the cusco ones and every other one has a lid on the top, to pour out the ----.

but think about it. opening on top, you need to turn it upside downto drain it, meaning you have to unbolt it.

its an easy install too. 1. mount the can to wherever it fits. 2.run one hose from the can to the intake mani. 3. run another hose from the can to the pcv valve located in the middle of the valve cover(refering to the b18b1)

so that hose that runs from the middle of the intake mani to the middle of the valve cover, simpaly replace them with the can hoses.

Lol just don't buy it. If you have a turbo setup, you will get a LOT more blowby...this would be just pointless. Save your money on other things.

Spike is gonna need to extend a piece in the harness. So were gonna go to canadian tire when he gets here and buy them, buy some electrical tape and that wire cover ----.

I think i got everything I need to swap, got a intake mani gasket. I should get a header gasket and valve cover gasket, just to be safe.

You guys just stopped me from spending 150$ lmao.
