Hey, new to the site and proud to be apart of it.

I have a 92 integra gs, Im getting ready to pop in a turbo but I know I have a lot to do... so heres the problem...
Im not sure what kind of pistons I should drop in the block. Im thinking of getting .20 oversized pistons to boost compression. And if I add a turbo would my engine be able to handle that much more pressure?

I know for sure that I need new Piston rings because one of the cylinders can't maintain proper pressure and theres a lot of hesitation from first gear up to second. So I figured why not change the pistons while Im at it?

 

0.25 is what oem oversize pistons come in. There's no single number on compression/boost that you can run to. It all depends on the tuner at hand and how good he is.

Do a compression test to check your piston rings and a leakdown to check your headgasket, piston rings and valve seals.


Lastly I'm no longer spoon feeding you, you need to do a lot more research.

 

how many pounds you wanna run? what kind of compression do you want?

the stock motor runs 9.5:1. if you get forged rods, new pistons and maybe a block guard...you can run 8-10lbs

it's best you leave the compression where it's at. it seems like its good where it is now

 

on a stock LS with no internals you can do 10-12 psi with a t3/t4 such as a drag kit and proper fuel management, buddy of mine has been doing it for 3 yrs now with no problems at all. It also depends on what size turbo, you could use a small turbo like a 14b or 16g (talon) and run like 15psi all day long, its all about how much cfm's the turbo flows, exhaust size, fuel, ignition timing etc. Turboing a car is no joke there is a lot of work and cash involved, if you cheap out forget it, you're gonna go bang!

I'm not irratated at all. You can clearly see from you post that you haven't done any research on you own at all. So I guess u assume that you just throw on a turbo and your cars quick. Do you even know the other parts that make up a turbo'd car?

You want a turbo, go ahead. Here's a list for recommended parts.

Waste Gate
Blow off Valve
Downpipe
Exhaust
Fuel Injectors
Intake Manifold
Throttle Body
Forged Pistons
Connecting Rods
Arp Bolts
Colder Spark Plugs
Cam Gears
Valve's
Valve Springs
Retainers
Upgraded Brakes
Chipped ECU or Standalone
Suspension
Tires
Brakes

etc, etc, etc


Now that you have a general parts list, does that do anything for you? No. You still need to ge a research what parts are needed for your particular goals. Gotta go find the companies that make these parts. Gotta come up with the money to afford to have someone build your engine.

It's not a one size fits all type of ----, You didn't even mention how much pounds of boost you want to run. So why ask a question, if you don't even know what you trying to ask? People on here and on any other website is gonna tell you, that you can run 5-20 psi on stock motor etc...it's your choice if you want to believe them. Consider the downside to it, that they don't tell you about. Do you consider running "X" amount of boost for a year acceptable? How about 6 months? Notice on every board people will tell you all the good ---- about their setup, but they fail to mention it took them 3 years to get there. They fail to mention all the headaches and problems that came up during the whole thing. Do you even know what type of pistons your putting in your engine or did somebody say it's a good thing to do? Dropping in new pistons ain't cheap.
