205/50/16 tires?
Anyone using 205/50/16 tires on a DC2 at stock height? Any pics? Rubbing issues? I know, most people use 205/45/16 but I already have a set in my basement with the 50 series tires. Thanks.
They arent the same overall diameter..... Going from a 45 to a 50 is nothing at stock height. i have 215/40/17 on my car, and its like an off road vehicle (i havent lowered it its stock height)... theres tons of room and mine are 17's and wider.
I'm trying to understand at what point, does increasing the diameter have no (or less) effect on "lifting" the car (but just decreases the wheel gap instead). It appears that as you increase the diameter (by upsizing in tires/rims), the overall height of the car will lift to a certain point which is then perhaps stopped by the weight of the vehicle & suspension, at which point the increasing diameter (ie: tires) just continues to fill up gap space until it almost hits the wheel well...as you keep going up in sizes to test the theory.
So, if I go to 205/50/16, the car will lift up a little, but also the gap will be reduced. If I go to 205/55/16, it will lift a little again, and gap will be further reduced. If I go to 205/60/16, it will lift less now, and the gap will still be further reduced. If I go 205/65/16, the car will barely "lift", but I still get less and less of a gap (the diameter has to go somewhere!).
I guess the opposite will occur if I downsize, but instead of losing the height after a certain point, it will keep going lower and lower (because in this case I am not fighting gravity), and the car will be low AND have a goofy wheel gap!
