Hey Guys,

Hoping someone can help me out. I'm considering to get rid of my 1999 Integra SE. It has 188,XXX kilometres on it. It runs extremely well, just needs a considerable amount of minor things done, but not sure if it's worth fixing it. I've always took great care of this car, as did the previous owner. But since it got stolen, I have lost interest. I still service it whenever it needs it, but have been thinking of getting something new for awhile, but don't have time to search etc. Probably better off buying something else?

-Rust is eating up my hood, quarter panels.
-Weather stripping on my driver side window is bent, making wind/noise enter the car.
-Fuel lines have been replaced, but I was told I need a fuel pressure line now, and brake lines to follow. (And who knows what else??)
-Water enters my trunk through some place, not sure where (but I know Integra's are known for this).
-Mid-pipe has an exhust leak
-trunk latch is messed up, doesn't lock instantly
-driver side door lock doesn't lock from the inside, needs key from outside to lock

The engine, tranny and clutch work superb. However, if I am keeping this, I got to fix everything including the cosmetics. I can live with the lock problems.

What do you guys think? I can't do this myself, so labour costs will obviously be added to parts costs. Is it worth it?

The amount of money that you would need to fix all those issues isn't worth it to me. All in all it comes down to if you really want to keep the car yourself. If you look at vida's build. You will get a better idea of what you will be in for.

Id buy a shell and swap everything to it.

"Is it worth it" Is a tough thing to answer. As much as a car is just an object, it really comes down to how far you will actually go with it. Are you willing to restore it just to sell it? The minor things can be fixed with a trip to the junkyard. The water leaking in to the trunk can be as simple as a tail light gasket. The exhaust leak can be fixed. you have alot of minor things. The major stuff such as body work is up to you. ALOT of tegs have rust, its almost impossible to find one that has no rust on Original paint for a good deal.

I say fix the minor things, and replace the hood. And the sale should go alright. But if you really like the teg, then its up to you how far you go with it

Then it sounds like you've made up your mind.

The rust removal is the biggest and most costly of the bunch, the rest can be fixed either with a bit of help or a bit of work here and there yourself. But ultimately, if the car starts rotting, all of that is in vain cause the shell is the biggest problem, so i'd say judge by the big things not the little ones.

If you want no rust, expect to either pay much more for another one, or be prepared to spend to remove existing rust.

I would fix the little things if your planning on keeping it. Body work is really pricey and by the sound of it you lost interest so don't see you getting it done. But if you wanna get rid of it maybe sell it as is. Or part it out for ever you can get for it.
