Eurolite

I just bought a 96 and the owner before the last owner had replaced the dashboard gauges (spedometre, rpm, fuel etc) with some eurolite gauges. Im new with these kind of mods and I think the eurolite bulb has blown because at night i cant read anything on the dash. also the OEM switch for the dash was replaced with a eurolite switch which is ok but even when i play with it I cannot get the dash to light up so im guessing the bulbs blown. does anyone know how to change them?

You would have to remove the gauge there are a few screws you have to remove first off you must remove the black part...there should be 2 screws on the top of it once those are removed you just pull on it and it should pop out.

2nd you have to remove the cluster there are 3 screws that hold it in place remove those 3 screws (make sure not to drop them) then pull the cluster out there should be 2 plugs holding it in place

once the cluster is out see which bulbs need to be replaced they just pull right out.

In my opinion i would just get a stock cluster and leave the euro crap unless you like it then just place in new bulbs.

Hope this helps and Good Luck!!! :yeah:

how long do you think it would take. im trying to plan when i could try this

Neon_Dave 08-04-2010 06:36 PM

If you're handy with a screwdriver, 15 minutes at most, taking time to be careful with screws and the like. A magnetic screwdriver (you'll need a medium phillips) helps.

Also remember not to handle bulbs with your bare hands. The oil from the skin isn't good for them.

Also, Paul's explanation is bang on with the exception of there being an additional small yellow connector for (I'm guessing) the fuel tank's level sensor. So that makes two big harnesses and a single small one off to the side.

thanks. im new to eurolites...the gauges are white, i dont know what colour were the bulbs inside but does anywhere know where i can get eurolite bulbs?

those pictures are the gauges. i think i need bulbs to replace the old ones. where can i find any

Datenshi 08-07-2010 11:47 AM

You need a #194 wide angled bulb. It has nothing to do with your guages.. you'd understand if you spent the 15 minutes to unplug it. The lights are attached to a circuit board behind the guages. Go buy the bulb I said above. You can get super cool LED ones that are whatever color you want! Theres 3 bulbs, replace em up and ADD THAT EXTRA HORSE POWA!!!

Gutta 08-07-2010 12:21 PM

lol im going to unplug the gauges right now and keep you posted incase i need help. *crossing fingers*

Or you can go back to the OEM cluster and get some nice bulbs like these bad boys

If the bulbs are simply burnt out, its the big 3 in a row. Turn them and pull them out.

The "holder" will hold the bulb in place, its a wedge bulb. It will come with a..........condom . Lool yes, I said a condom. It will be blue or clear. Just pull out the bulb from the "holder" . It WILL be tight, so be carefull.

Gutta 08-07-2010 12:54 PM

this is my first time doing something like this. by the picture i cant tell where the three bulbs holds

Datenshi 08-07-2010 01:00 PM

Of course you can't because they are BEHIND the guages. Take the guages off and you'll see them right in your face.

Vida 08-07-2010 01:01 PM

you see by the yellow connector on the left side. If you look on the right of it you will see a holder for the bulb, its black. Then directly to the right you will see another one of the same size, and then again another one directly to the right. Hold on, let me get you a better pic

Vida 08-07-2010 01:06 PM

Here we go. I hope this is clearer

http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/8/.../DSCN56462.JPG

......I just noticed something. On the top right of the picture, there 2 bulb holders.....but theres a bulb missing right in the middle, WTF? looool

Vida 08-07-2010 01:08 PM

With that being, said, the rest of the holders are for individual lights, such as the gas light, ABS light, check engine, maintenance req., signals, ebrake. ETC. So if any other bulbs are burnt out you can just look at your cluster and see which one is burnt out, and then look directly behind it and it'll be that bulb.

BTW . You dont have to unplug the cluster to change bulbs. you can do most of the work right there on the steering column. Like shown in my picture

im guessing these are factory lights

i got the cluster out and saw that all three of the bulbs were in good working condition and I could see through the back of the cluster that they did in fact work and were lighting up. The thing is now that they must not be bright enough to show through the eurolite gauges (im starting to wonder why the previous owner even put them on, because he has factory lights in there).

i know at the flea market they have LED lights for the cluster. they got white red and blue to choose from at about $15 dollars a pair. im wondering are those what i need to show through these gauges cause at the moment im getting annoyed with this eurotrash

Vida what kind of lights are those and where did you get them. maybe thats what i need to shine through these gauges

Vida 08-07-2010 11:12 PM

These are LED 194/168 bulbs. Theyre pretty nice. you can order some online
Super Bright LED's

Order some out of the FIRST menu. Get "Cool White". Theyre bright as hell. For my cluster and license plate and sidemarkers, I used WLED-X5
Heres a pic of a Cool white bulb in the licence plate.

The problem with this site, is that you have to order a 20 dollar minimum in order for you to get it shipped to Canada. SO, in the meanwhile you can get various bulbs for your interior/exterior, such as new map/dome lights, license plate lights, sidemarkers, tail lights and so on.

Hope That helps

Gutta 08-07-2010 11:17 PM

at this point im fed up with this eurolite ----. i cant read the gauges at night at all. i dont even drive at night because of this.

i dont know if its not lighting up because the stock bulbs arent bright enough or if theres something wrong with the actual eurolite system.

i dont wanna ask the ppl at the flea market because theyll sell you anything knowing you cannot return it

Vida 08-08-2010 01:25 AM

Just get an oem cluster, and aim for one around the same amount of KMS. Its just better that way.

An LS cluster goes for 50? maybe less

Vida 08-08-2010 01:41 AM

Wait.....did you buy this car from a guy in Mississauga? Around Hurontario? Black Automatic DC?

Gutta 08-10-2010 04:54 PM

naw got it from a guy in richmond hill, its a black LS and its automatic...

lol why whats up with the mississauga guy?

i ended up getting a cluster for $20

Gutta 08-10-2010 04:54 PM

all i had to do was get someone to roll back the kms on the cluster to match the ones i had
