Clutch problem
 

Ok so it's my 1st car (integra '94), and i taught myself how to drive manual. my clutch pedal seems to become less tighter and kinda feels light when i press it. so i was wondering if its just the pedal or am i burning the clutch? if im burning the clutch, what am i looking to pay a new clutch in, labor-wise? and any shop suggestions? I think my mistake is that i rev before letting it go to the G-spot, could it be?

Well if you rev and the clutch pedal is fully in, you are actually wearing the release bearing not the clutch.

When you have no more free play at the very top of the pedal left, or when you push the clutch pedal all the way to the floor and its hard to engage gears, thats when you know you are due for new clutch disk.

A clutch will cost you anywhere from 150-400$ depending if you go for OEM replacement or whatever stage. Since i think its safe to assume the car is stock, or close to stock, an oem replacement clutch will suffice and it shouldn't cost more, or at least not much more than 150$. Regarding labor, well it all depends on the shop, anywhere from 300$ to 500$. Again, some shops will charge more and tell you its a complex job...blah blah blah.

Look to get the flywheel resurfaced, should cost about 80-100$ so the new clutch has fresh even surface to mate on. Also, release bearing and if bad, pilot bearing should be replaced. Cheap bearings that will cost a lot if you have to change them due to labor.

Releasing bearing is the bearing that makes the clutch pedal tighter? cuz i'm pretty sure my free play became longer than it was, and the g-spot became closer to the end, that's how it feels at least and the cheapest i found is 190$ for the clutch kit

and could slowing down with the clutch be another reason for it?

i got a stage 3 6 puck clutch(racing clutch) really hard to drive but when you learn its really fun and worth it, it will make u a better driver i got mine for 350$ and i changed it myself at my friends shop i paid him 100$ to use tools if you have a friend that has a shop or a lot of open garage space use that, yes its a bitch and it will take like 10 hours to do, it took me 10 hours to do mine with help but it was my first clutch i changed, it is a bitch but it saved me 400$ in labour,
and if its your first car you have to think about how many other people learned on that clutch.

You got a stage 3 clutch on your 140 hp integra?

is there a difference as far as material wise with a type r clutch and a gs/ls clutch ? also would anyone recommend putting a type r clutch and fly wheel on a gs/ls tans ?

^ I got the flywheel on mine. There's I believe a 2 lb difference lighter on the type R flywheel versus the regular one. I noticed a bit of a difference, the engine is certainly quicker to respond than it was before. It pulls like a type R too with my tranny :)

I can only vouch for the flywheel, for a clutch I've got an Exedy organic stage 1.
