On my way to buy an HID KIT off this guy from craigslist. Any specific things I should look out for in buying the kit? Please advise!

Also any advice on install tips/pointers are always welcome! My brother has only installed on a civic and an accord, so we might not know the best way with a teggy...

Make sure they work. plus pick me up a set, lol. 3000k

 

nah nothing really too look out for, just check if they fit and if they work thats all. if anything goes wrong its usually the bulbs that go but thats a really cheap fix. good luck

 

The beam pattern for HiD in a Teg looks like crap. Believe me I've gone that route. 4300k - 5000k yields the best output. Anything else is useless rice. Only one way for proper HiD light output : retrofit.

 

Bought them, so far seems to be legit... we will see in a couple of hours. I'll be making an attempt to do the install shortly, just looking for some good advice at this point.

 

They should just be a plug and play kit.

 

My only concern is I don't want to take my bumper off unless 100% necessary... some websites indicate you have to.

anybody else had to do this?

 

You don't need to remove your bumper to change your head lights. you get to them from the engine bay. You will see what i am talking about, when you pop your hood open.

Lights are in and running nicely. They look superb from the drivers seat, however, from an outsiders perspective, I'm not happy. The lenses are foggy/dirty and seem to be affecting the light. Also, the shape of the HID Beam coming out appears to be a rectangle shape and doesn't fill the entire lens. I guess this is why people end up retro-fitting?

Sorry for the long link - Basically they're blacked out, Dual Halo Projector Lights. I'm hoping these will fix the issue with the HIDs, again, I'm concerned about having to remove the bumper to replace these. Any advice?

In my opinion from what I have seen Action Jackson has the best retrofit set-up. Then again he put good money into the project I can't.

 

I would as well put money into my head lights, but right now i need to money to get my shop first, the lights well come after,lol.

 

^^ I would have done the same thing if I were in your position. Right now lights are probably the last thing I'm going to do on my car.

 

Sounds like you have had a fairly typical experience with these "HID" drop in conversions. Generally they end up putting out less light with weird patterns. The reflector required is different than stock, not to mention the electricals. The other thing you may find is short bulb life. I dod one of these on my last car but pretty quickly went back to stock

My headlights were yellowed & foggy too, so I put in a new set.

 

ok, i just dropped the set in, the halo's look awesome but i was definitely not impressed with the bulbs. these headlight housings would look amazing with a proper HID set up.

install was a royal pain in the ***, you need to remove the bumper. (although it may be easier for you guys with a stock bumper)

need to do some of your own wiring to hook up the halo's, i will post up pics or a short movie when i have everything back together.

i would only recommend getting these if you are willing to put the work into it. (it took me about three hours to install everything)

HID's are a must though for the full effect,
on a final note, the highbeam bulb housing will NOT accept a conventional HID bulb, the bulb that comes with the housing is soldered and screwed in place, unlike the twist in style of stock or replacement bulbs.

it will be possible to install regular bulbs, but you will need to be creative.

all in all. i would give these a rating of 6/10.
With PROPER HID's installed i would give them a 9/10 they have a nice subtle look to them unlike other projector lamps.

SOR: so you got those headlight lenses from ebay? how is the fitment and quality?

i was thinking of grabbing a set of them and pulling them apart to retro fit some real HID projectors into them......im just worried about leaks/condensation into the lenses....

 

the quality is on par i'd say with the stock ones. i am not a fan of the high beam bulb housing though. it'll make retro fit a bit of a pain. but if you do a nice retro fit to HID's then these will make it look awesome when all is said and done

 

which ones did you end up ordering? and how much did it end up costing you after taxes and shipping?

Good job. It looks nice, your teg is real clean. I wish mine was as shiny as yours, lol. I'm looking to get it fully painted but I think I'll prolly wait till' next summer now. In the meant time just wanted to do most electrical sh*t. Hence the lights and the stereo upgrades. Rims n paint next season.

SOR, that looks great! I think HIDs, when properly installed and not an overall pain for everyone outside (to see LOL) look very nice on cars. But I've also heard too many stories about trouble with the law and them not liking em too much. That keeps me away plenty. I'm more than happy with my Silverstars
