I'm pretty new here and I just have a quick question about the frankenstein (ls/vtec) hybrid whatever ya wanna call it setup.

i've been told they can be very unreliable do to rs changes and cylinder wall pressure increases. I was told also that using aftermarket cams and piston rods can overcome this. (I think thats what i heard i can't exactly remember though)

so my question is, is that true? and if so does anyone know where i can get some hard data on how reliable frankenstien setups are? Also what cams would you recommend? I was thinking about todas....

Well it's not frankensteining going ls/vtec, every thing bolts on you just need to change a few things, and they are reliable. You just use the stock stuff from a B16 head, you don't need to change anything from it. You only change parts if you want to start making HP & TQ. from the engine, other wise, it's a good swap to do.
