Ever since I bought the car (99 RS) I'd have to turn my key all the way to the right (clockwise) and then lift the trunk up to open it.

I didn't really mind it until I bought my alarm which has a trunk release button and the installer noted that the trunk did not open by using the switch. When I'd move the switch up or down I'd hear the clicking noise from the trunk but nothing will happen.

I searched around the net and it seems that the Actuator or trunk motor could be dead and that it seems to be a common problem with 98+'s. Anyone else encounter this? Thanks.

 

i've never had my trunk "pop" up ever.. and i bought my 99 brand new - i don't think we integra owners have that option.

 

My problem is that the trunk doesn't even open from it's locked state. I doubt the trunk is supposed to lift all the way when the trunk lock is released.

 

ya i was talking about how the trunk just pops open a bit not all the way...

but i think your issue is definately with actuator - i don't think it's all that expensive to replace either - i remember reading about it not long ago

 

i have the exact same problem on my 98 GS...but what i find funny is that my trunk lid did not have the little switch to pop it up a bit and it also does not have a trunk release by the gas tank release inside..so my only option HAS to be by holding the key while i pull it open...but let me know what you do because id like to hook up my trunk to my remote.

 

ya your switch probably broke or somebody broke it off...

98+ integras have a switch on the hatch while older model integras have the lever on the side of the driver seat.
