Default Street Race Crackdowns

Hey guys I'm not sure if this is a repost or not but its a video of police organizing a plan to stop street races. This was in the states and I'm pretty sure it will eventually happen here.

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/2...15a7696714.htm
Enjoy!

mark, what would you consider legit?

the only thing i've done so far is CAI, exhast, rims (if thats considered a mod)

i've been fairly cautious driving in general, especially because i don't want to create attention to myslef. I'm even considering a silencer (even though that won't completely tone the sound down) but it'l only be temporarily

the CAI is legal as long as you keep that PCV hose hooked up. messing around with emission controls is a $300+ ticket

EASY!! they know its stolen b/c the vin would have been reported stolen. I can sell my motor to u and it would run as clean if u got pulled over with it (plus i would give u proof of documents that it was legit). However, if my car got stolen, and u were caught with my motor than u would have some explaining to do

in the end its a slap in the wrist for being caught and labeled a theif.....know one seems to care except for the other guy that u just ripped off

How about if you do an engine swap from one of these used japense stores that write you off a paper receipt so that they can give you a cash deal.
Would that be illegal?

it's actually illegal, if your motor has bigger displacement than one it came from the factory. your allowed to have even or less though.

^not true...because lets say you throw in a h22 in your teg...and you would go for drive clean..you would have to tell the drive clean inspector that your car has a different motor, and he would classify that as a hot rod (either hot rod or something else)

so if you can get your car an emissions test, it shouldn't be illegal..

well tech a cash deal at a place like this is illegal....however, u would assume a place like this would sell u a legit motor anyway. Even if the motor wasnt stolen and u made a cash deal its ok...its common sense that if a cop ran the vin it would come back legit. But of course if he sells u a stolen motor and u find out later its stolen then the shop is liable providing u have a receipt. When buying stuff like this u should always get a receipt....if ur new motor turns out it was stolen and u have nothing to prove that u bought if from a store, than u have some explaining to do to the cops

c.a.r.b certification to my knowledge is only based within california, assuming that every state has their own policy on air quality.

True, however many other jurisdictions recognize CARB certification do to its requirements being the most stringent.
