Default finally, it's my turn!!!

after 3 years of owning my car, i got fed up with it looking like ***. i got a good price got all the parts i need and sent it in for paint this morning.

today was pretty much a tear down. i had to swap over one of the doors since it was beyond repair. we pulled off all the trim, moldings lights and anything else that would unbolt.

here's the pics i took tonight. because of my work schedule i won't be able to get anymore untill i go back so we can put it back together. the the guy doing my paint said he'll take pics of the progress and give them to me on a CD

here's the first batch of pics probably won't have anymore till after the car is done.

that is key. i hate it when shops do a chop job and just slather on bondo. if you're going to do it, might as well do it right the first time around.

i'm hoping to have it saturday night. if show up with it on sunday it might not be all put back together. the guy doing my paint has been putting in alot of hours in my car. he's not doing any other work till mines done. i called him friday at around 4 and he sounded really worn out. i've known him for years and it's the first time i've heard him like that. he told me it should be in the booth saturday morning. we're only day behind schedule so far. i told him i'd come down and help with what ever i can and he said all i'll i need to do is help him reassemble it.

haven't installed the shifter yet. need the time, might wait till i do my exhaust since i'll have to be under there.

going with stock Rio Red. had to face a last min desicion. i was a ---- hair away from picking milano red but i didn't want my engine bay a different colour.....besides, Rio Red is an Old Skool colour

this car is my prize posession (i don't own much) but i've grown really attached to it. it knows me and i know it. it's not the same when i hop into another teg. i actually got depressed when i had to get it towed to daves when i thought i popped my motor. keeping it alive adds a bounce in my step and puts a smile on my face. maybe i'll finally be able to pick up chicks with it

update: won't have the car finished this weekend. he just called me and told me that he somehow hurt his shoulder at the shop so it's slowing him down and some of the patches he's welding is getting really tricky. he gotta replace a section of one of the rocker panels LivinLow and I had done last year. so i gotta go back to my parts car and cut out my other rocker for the metal. they weren't able to salvage the winshield. i gotta get the one from my parts car and it's gonna cost me more money......money i don't have.

^ah ---- that sucks, but atleast your not without your car for 3+ weeks the way Trenell and i were. it's wierd to see your car go through so much of a change huh? it'll seem like a totaly new car once it's done and you'll find yourself staring at your car for no aparant reason. don't worry about this weekend, i'll pick jOO up.

what ive learned from the body shop guys is that no matter how nice they seem, they will always take somewhat longer then expected!!

in the 1st and 2nd picture, where did you get those rust free pieces from was it off your other red shell? do you know if the metal on the car was flanged or did he just butt weld and the bare metal pieces used for the b-pillar by the window and the rearmost quarter, are those all hand fabricated pieces?

your guy does some nice metal work....

the wheel arches and drivers door were off my parts car. the arches are butt welded to my car (inner and outer) the seams where the inner and outer were spot welded together from the factory were completely rust free they had the rubber trim coverings on them when i cut them off the car. it's funny to see the colour difference between the new metal and my car, considering both were Rio Red from the factory. any other patches that had to be replaced were hand fabricated such as what's in the pics and there's 2 more that i don't have pics of which is the right rear corner of the trunk and the right rocker panel.
