Default I'm almost there...

Well my last (for now) round of goodies came in:

After many years of having this on my wish list I finally caved and decided now was the time. The latest version of Hondata's product is much more refined then their predecessors. It installed effortlessly and had it running with my laptop in no time.

The R-500 from PLX devices is true wide-band oxygen sensor with multiple sensor tracking and data logging. It interfaces directly with the Hondata ECU so that I can do most of my basic tuning before polishing things up on the Dyno.

This all came in the mail on Friday and was installed by midnight. I spent around 4 hours today getting comfortable with the software interface and did first pass on my low speed cam fuel map. It was great to see the Air/Fuel ratios respond as I mad changes. I was rather shocked actually to see how bad the ratios can be when you simply work with fixed maps (i.e. non-programable ECUs).

Anyway I'm pretty stoked right now... Tomorrow I plan on diving into the VTEC map and maybe if things go well I'll explore the R-500's dyno capabilities and see if the power figures make sense (The R-500 can be used as a rolling dyno when you couple it with the 2 axis accelerometer, upper left in my picture).

Oh, here are some pictures I took around the garden recently... Spring is here!

Cams are next on the list! Of course you need to go in the proper sequence which is why I picked up the Hondata first.

No problem Danny... Let me know when the stuff arrives and we'll get your car running like a song.

Giddy up. Since the header, custom exhaust w/high-flow cat and the Moogen Elephant trunk intake my car runs rich. It needs to be tuned.

Default Hondata

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE Doug!!!!!!

I'm still contemplating/on the fence with the Expo.....IF if go, I'll much more likely bring the B16 Swapped 1992 EG with the Phearable P28 ECU, X-Lite flywheel, CTR crank pulley, NO cat, DC 4-1 etc,etc,etc.....Tokiko Blues and Eibach Sportlinesetc, etc, etc

as seen below....

John's ECU's ARE where it's at....Go for it, you'll never regret the purchase. Just don't try to pass drive clean with it!!!!!LOL

We've REALLY got to get together Doug sometime before Expo.

Doug is there any reason you went with the S300 instead of CromePro or Neptune RTP?

What other aux/add-ons will you be using with the PLX-R-500?

I went with Hondata because they have been recommended most highly by everyone I've come to respect when it comes to engine tuning. The others may be just as good but I didn't feel the need to explore those options. I had seen the S200 system before but was very impressed with the added features of the S300. It’s a really simple system to get up and running.

I don't plan on combining any other electronics with the R-500. I may get some gauges but the R-500 is going to be my main set of eyes on the engine when the laptop is not plugged into the ECU. I do have the 2 axis accelerometer from PLX installed.

Good stuff, well thought out.

Let us know how it goes once your done street/part throttle tuning. I'm going to try and setup a dyno day sometime between may-july, so you may or may not want to use that to your advantage.

For me it's unreal how much smoother the whole car is after I had it street/part throttle tuned.

A nice surprise was a increase in gas mileage...woot!

This IS well in advance of the Exblow....and you'd be able to set up that S300 no prob there I suspect......

Called Pacione this afternoon... I plan on taking my car there on Thursday for a some dyno time. I've gone pretty far with the street tune and now I need another tool to finish things off.

Not interested in the dyno day... Setting my car up for 2 pulls won't be enough.
