ok so my carpet was nasty as ----..and i decided to do sumthin about it

ok so the hardest step is takin the ---- outta u'r car

the first thing your going to want to do is remove your front seats, there are 4 12mm bolts on the corners of the seats, remove them, and pul the recline handle so u'r seats lean forward and tilt them out of the car.

**it may be a good idea to remove you deck at this time if u have an oem deck, i'm not really sure how to take it off, but my freind says that if u follow my instrections there is like 1 or 2 bolts u have to find to remove the OEM deck

then you will proceed to remove your armrest and center console. heres how to do this incase u dont know:

 

1. under you ebrake there is a cover pry it off and u will see 2 phillips screws take those



2. look on both sides of the arm rest, there will be two phillips screws on both sides (total of 4)



3. lift e-brake and pull the armrest back, and lift it out of the car.

 

4. to remove the center console (where the shifter is) you will need to remove the 2 phillips screws holding it in



5. then u have to remove the cig lighter and the ashtray/change drawer by taking out the 2 screws



6. then there are the 2 last screws that u have to take off the FINALLY get off the center console

so u'r finally ready to strat..well not really u'r gna have to ge tthe rear bench off..whicha can be a bitch..i did this on my sedan so it might be a littel diff fo the poeple with coupes.

1. on the bottom corners on tha back of the seat, there are 2 10mm bolts on both sides (total of 4) that u need to take off:



2. then ur going have to pull the top of the seat out and your goin to be left with the botton and the two sides of the rear bench

3. i forgot to take pictures of the two sides, but there is a 10mm bolt on the bottom of each side remove that bolt and lift the side up (u'll get it when u actually see it)

4. there is a hard-to-get 10mm bolt in the middle of the seat that u will need to remove to finally get the seat out:

 

ok now comes the easy part

u'r going to get a box cutter and your going to cut the carpet behind the center console, because i couldent figure out hoe to get it out, there is another place u have to cut..but i couldent remeber where

then your going to remove the seatbelt bolt (14mm) by lifting the rubber cover on each side of the front seatbelts



your then going to get your phillips screw driver and remove the cover over the gas door and trunk levers:



and you need to also remove you dead pedal by removing the 2 12mm bolts on the top and bottom of the dead pedal:

 

you will also need to remove the 2 covers (i think there called kick panels) by taking a flat head screw drivers and removing the plastic screws.

you will need to go back to the back seat and find the plastic screws holding the door sills to the chassis (behind where you removed the side peices of the rear bench)



now i'm prettyy sure your ready to take your carpet out..FINALLY

your going to fold the carpet in half while its in the car and take it out of the car

 

**************************Dying the carpet*******************

so you finally got the carpet out of the car and u'r ready to dye it..i think not.
you have to throughly vaccum the carpet and steam cleaning is reccomended

so once your carpet is clean get a spray bottle (make sure it can hold 2 cups of water)



for each packet you use u need two cups of boiling water, so once the water is boiled put it in a spray bottle and mix in the dye then your goin to spray in the dye on the carpet one bottle should do half the carpet, then you fill the bottle agin, mix in the dye, and do the other side, i got 4 packs of dye...and i used 3, so if u need more get xtra



so one your finish it **HANG IT TO DRY** i made the mistake of letting it dry on the grass and it took forever to dry

if your worried about fading, steam clean it after your done and touch up as neccesary.

and then u put your capret back in and re install everything, i finished my car in 3 hours, but i know about taking ---- out of my car..**KEEP ALL YOUR SCREWS**

and you just saved your self 200+ dollars!

what i would do differently:

i bought color remover, but i decided not to use it cause i was lazy, but its a good idea (especially if your not coloring your carpet black), we did it on my buddies EK and his capret turned out nicer than mine

good ----, i just put in the JDM ITR carpet (black) but because it was out of a RHD car there's holes for the dead pedel and the trunk release.

twosix, where did you buy the dye and how much was a packet?

 

i bought the dye at walmart its called RIT dye and it was $1.77 a packet

 

umm wont this dye come off on your pants etc, like did u rinse out the carpet a few times, let it air dry etc? Also did u do the dye job on the deck??! poor deck, someones gonna get lashings from their parents lol

 

after u dye it initially u let it dry then u steam clean it, to get any loose color off the carpet, and i washed the dye off the deck before it dried...so no lashings for me

alos to help the dye soak in better some poeple use a sponge instead of a spray bottle, ive never tried this way, but poeple say the color holds better.

 

well thats cool then looks good, I wanna see pictures of it installed though if u got any

 

lol thats funny.. cuz I just pulled out my carpet to dye it today..
but i think i'm gonna put my carpet in the bathtub and dye it... instead of the spray..
but the spray is a good idea.

 

ud have to use a lot of dye + water to soak it in the bathtub wouldent you?

 

i dunno i always dyed my clothes in my bathtub at my old house..
i just made it so the water is just enough.. no extra..

what if you dont have a way of steam cleaning? whats another method i could wash after dying my carpet?

 

You could always go to Metro and rent their steam cleaner! It's super cheap.

 

but that for flat rugs lmao ,like a house rug ....our carpets are all molded into the shape of the floor pan..... lol or is it like a hand one they have?

 

and would this work for seats also ? id like to do my seats if possible

 

I wouldnt do it on seats incase it started rubbing off etc onto clothes down the line.

 

And is it just me or are some of those pics off team integra..they look familiar lol

 

They have a big rolling vacuum cleaner part and then a handheld attachment if I'm not mistaken. But either way you're taking the carpet out and after all it's still carpet, so it's malleable once it's out of the car.

As for seats... completely different material, there's foam, different shades of cloth... it may be worth a try but you'll likely need different dyes. I can't imagine it'll look that good though.

 

I wonder how its holding up after these few years.
