it will work really good but aikido masters are all about peace and they would never use it in that way , aikido means "The Way of Harmony of the Spirit" and they never attack always counter-attack.

Honestly, I think the best, most experienced AIKIDO master would not stand a chance in a MMA fight....

that was pretty cool but i don't know how good aikido would hold up against the other forms of martial arts.

you want to see old? check out these vids of Morihei Ueshiba ( the founder of Aikido)

http://www.geocities.com/yovrosental/oshiba.html

He's over 80 in the second set of vids and would beat you senseless.

well said. as hard as it may be for you guys to comprehend, i'm actually a 6th Dan aikido pupil. it is all about counter attacks and using the energy of a would-be assailant and turing that against him/her. Segal does it beautifully.

^^ how long have you been training? Where do you train out of? A good buddy of mine has been training for over 20 years now. He's in a dojo somewhere in downtown TO.

I can see that working with single weapon strikes. However, how would you counter many strikes moving forward from many different weapons in very short bursts (i.e. jab, cross, hook, low kick combo's) also, what happens when an opponent shoots in and grabs with the whole body... I just don’t really see this counter-attack redirect working in non-planned conditions.

But what the hell do I know, it sure looks very nice.
