Stereo Complete. Custom Trunk Enclosure

http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/DSCF0023.jpghttp://i966.photobucket.com/albums/a...y/DSCF0022.jpg

here is my custom trunk enclosure. the only one (that i've seen that has a TRUE seal)

sounds great what do you guys think?

nwarrior 08-06-2009 07:58 PM

Looks amazing, I wish I could do that. Do you have your measurements by any chance if you are willing to share. Once again, love it. BTW did you take out the spare?

SOR 08-06-2009 08:09 PM

yeah i had to remove the spare to get a true air seal otherwise the sound isn't nearly as good.

its actually pretty easy. i have all the measure ments at my garage so i don't have access to them at the moment. i can get them for you if you want.

i used almost 90 measurements to get the top layer to fit perfectly. (the whole thing took me about two straight days in total)

nwarrior 08-07-2009 10:52 PM

If I can get those measurements I would really Apprciate it! Thanks

Spike 08-08-2009 08:35 AM

That looks good man, nice job on it. That makes me want to start doing my custom enclosure.

How Much Did This Set You Back?

I spoke to Davis at Selective Sound and he offered me the same thing with a 12" sub for $500.00.

Just wanna know, thanks.

SOR 08-08-2009 11:40 AM

well its a pretty expensive sub i have in there. but other than the sub i spent around 200 at the most.

the sub i have in there though retails for around 300 to 350. what kind of sub where they going to give you?

redteggy 08-08-2009 12:50 PM

nice work man, it looks awesome. i want to get a sound system in my teg, i just picked it up a week ago, its completely stock. any suggestions?

is your name irfan by any chance? i am a huge alpine fan.... so i'm kinda biased there lol

but yeah, don't cheap out on things otherwise it will sound like crap, do your research before you start to avoid beginner mistakes such as running power wires next to rca's etc, etc. find out what amp to pair with what sub, wiring guages (correct sizes lol, something i made a mistake on)

redteggy 08-08-2009 02:01 PM

hah yeah it is, so SOR must be you jesse. yeah ive been doin a little bit of research on that, but i was looking for a system that had really good sound quality. anyway, if you are jesse, how did your custom install turn out?

redteggy 08-08-2009 02:05 PM

wow i just realized that it is you! holy crap and thats the finished product of the install i saw! nice dude it looks gooooddd, how does it sound?

SOR 08-08-2009 02:09 PM

sounds better than i had hoped. yes indeed SOR is me... jesse lol small world eh?

so did you figure out that master cyl. problem? or do you still need a hand? i figured since you didn't message me you didn't get the part

redteggy 08-08-2009 02:14 PM

very small indeeddd. no i didnt end up getting the part. im not sure whether i want to at this point. theres so many other things i want to do to the car. I keep checking the clutch fluid before i drive it, and the levels havnt dropped any so im putting it on hold for now, but i did pick up an antenna from crappy tire, gonna put that in today.

SOR 08-08-2009 02:21 PM

ok. lol see your getting caught up in the "new car" syndrome. don't worry we've all been through it.... before you know it you'll be as broke as the rest of us!

t3nt3n 08-10-2009 08:22 AM

nice setup

pretty sure it was a 12" JL, Rockford or a Clarion. He seemed pretty generous with the sub for $500.00 total. Told me the install would be a fiberglass enclosure? I'm assuming it's similar?

SOR 08-10-2009 10:34 AM

nope i didn't go with fiberglass. went with laminated plywood/mdf. didn't feel like dealing with the sticky mess of fiberglass. plus i like the strength this gave me.

Hahaha that is sooo true almost every cent goes into fixing my baby.

ls/vtec 08-11-2009 02:05 AM

Looks good, but you don't need a terminal for the wires you could of just ran it straight to the sub for a even cleaner look. None the less it looks good.

Btw: I noticed your not running it bridged, You should of for the extra power.

If you don't know how it's simple. A momo amp has 4 connections, (+)(-)(+)(-)

Instead of using the two end ones, use the first (+) and the last (-)

SOR 08-11-2009 08:01 AM

good to know. i will change that. i ran the terminal because i had it lol. and i didn't want to drill through the seat backing again. i want to eventually reupholster it in black (the shop only had grey). so i may take it out then

BoSsMoN 08-11-2009 08:52 AM

Do you put things in your trunk. If you do how do you keep it from hitting the speaker. BTW great sub I used to have that same on in my car until my brother just took it from me lol.

SOR 08-11-2009 09:29 AM

got a sub cover coming in. as soon as i have it installed i will be using my trunk again.

yeah i love the sub, really gives a good punch

ls/vtec 08-12-2009 12:58 AM

^ What's under the cover how did you build it? I'm really curious to hear how it sounds

SOR 08-12-2009 08:40 AM

used heavy stell siding gasket with braced plywood air baffles to seal it. then glue laminated the layers on top (the layers that the sub is mounted to) the whole thing was then lag bolted through the floor to hold it down, then weather sealed.

SOR 08-23-2009 11:16 PM

also just upgraded to an alpine amp. stupid piece jbl just crapped the bed on me

and nwarrior, i can't find the measurement diagram i used.... i searched my whole garage for them when i got home this weekend, but my dad eventualy told me he threw it out cause it kept floating around the garage. lol sorry dude.

scar96 08-26-2009 05:07 PM

Bedros 08-29-2009 11:55 PM
