Big Hairy Gino Oct 11, 2005 02:18 PM

Rotas are made in the Phillippines.

Theyre starting to produce Forged wheels by the end of the year. Watch out!

FuzzyLS BRO Oct 11, 2005 03:18 PM

Just showed up on H-T.

It occured while at a track event under cornering conditions.

dc24me Oct 11, 2005 09:06 PM

i wonder if rota is actually going to use with own wheel designs for their forged wheels and if they are going to sell them under a different "premium" brand name.

because a rio and an optima are both kias.

Blue Dragon Oct 11, 2005 09:13 PM

Better sell them now and get the original Mugen, Spoon, and other rims :p

karma Oct 11, 2005 09:35 PM

thatz nasty ..what conditions would have caused that ?

HyBrId Oct 11, 2005 10:39 PM

in one of those rota threads, it mentions those wheels were 2 years old and were used and abused for daily driving and weren't checked out for any cracking/hairline fractures prior to being installed on that race car.

It still should not have happened. I daily drive my Volks and I am confident they will not blow up under condering conditions. Lets face it, you get what you pay for.

poor rims...

Stock R Oct 20, 2005 08:56 PM

if you guys check the thread on ht, you'll see that those rims were used on a race car. not only that, the people that it cracked on were the 2nd owners of the wheels. the first owner also used it on a race car.

there's no telling what that wheel had gone through before it cracked. every one bashes rota but no one ever seems to tell the whole story.

Smartass pHO Dec 9, 2005 12:53 PM

The wheels (previous to being on this car) were on another race car, FOR 2 FULL SEASONS, thats over 160 track days. The guy who owned the rims durning that time wasn't the nicest driver, and hit LOTS of curbs, went off track alot also. When the rims were sold to the owner of that car. the seller said "i wouldn't run these rims without first having them checked out. they were put threw hell for 2 years."

You don't need to spend 2400 dollars to have wheels that will be strong enough. it would be dangerous for any rim company to make a shotty rim in quality terms people could die.

hmmm repost.
