i hope u didnt just cheese over the rust. your suppose to grind down all the rusted areas to bare metal again so it wont come back. Its like cancer, you have to kill it all of or your eventually still doomed.

FuzzyLS BRO 08-27-2008 02:48 AM

don't want to discourage you, but what your doing there is just a band-aid. the rust will be back in 2 months. the proper way to do it is to cut out all the rust, and then re-weld in a new peice. even then it may come back.

yup i know about the metal thing, and i did use a metal...
and trust me i sanded down like there was no tomorrow and you can see pure metal..nice n shiny :)....
the pics is not much, but this is my first step i'm thinking of adding another layer of bondo on top...
also i used rust protection after i sanded the rust out to prevent it....

+1 for trying it yourself.

But I'd recommend taking it to a shop.

Nawaaz 08-27-2008 07:51 PM

Im guessing he doesnt wanna take it to a shop because he wants to be able to look back at his car and say he did that, anyone can go pay a bodyshop to do it, but he wants to take the time and effort. Good stuff man, just make sure to do it properly the first time... lol. Keep it up.

^^ exactly why i did it.....
i am taking my time...i borrow my friends welding tool and did some welding and stuff...buh no body has a sand blaster so i gotta use my freaking hand to sand all that shyt down.....aside that i don't mind doing it.....
