Ok so I picket this B20B up just over a month ago, and I got because I new it had a bearing out of the bottom end, but I'm planning on rebuilding it any ways. Here are some pictures on it from when I got it, to how it sits now.

Don't know yet, money will tell the difference, as I'm in collage for 8 weeks in the new year, so not working, everything is put on hold, even the body work on my car, the only good thing is, I can rebuild and port and polish and 3 angle valve job the head at school.

Jay, I can't wait to see it once it's completed. Your hard work will pay off.

Going to look great when it's done, Jason. :)
It's good that you're able to do the work yourself (and know what you're doing, too! :yeah:).

blitz_itr 12-21-2009 11:13 PM

Wow that things pretty filthy, was that jdm or usdm?

Obviously you are rebuilding so it doesn't matter... whats the plan?

Spike 12-21-2009 11:22 PM

Its a USMD from a 97 CRV so it's only the 126 HP. Plans are for now just to port and polish the head and do a 3 angle valve, and then install a set of cams from my old B18B head, as they are from a 2000 integra, so they are the 142 cams, so they have a higher lift to them, so I can get more power out of this, and rev it higher for now being all stock. Later it will be boosted.

Vida 12-21-2009 11:36 PM

PS. if you wanna sell me your vc Id take it off you right away :) Just putting it out there.

Cant wait for the boost!! What goals do you wanna reach?

rhd_ef 12-22-2009 02:31 PM

That under v/c shot looks like more of a toyota with all that sludge! woweee

Thats brutal mollasess(sp?)

Diesel Fuel works great for cleaning parts. Try it out.

JDM_overdose 12-30-2009 01:58 AM

any progress yet

Spike 12-30-2009 06:13 AM

Nope, have not been at work for the last 6 days, lol. But I plan on removing the head tonight after work.

Spike 01-09-2010 07:47 AM

Well so far I don't have any more pictures, but I have a cylinder head off now, and I have the camshafts and gears off and all the valves and valve springs out. Now I will be sending it out to get hot tanked to be cleaned, and then to see if there is any cracks in the head any where. I'll pictures up of the head before it goes out to be cleaned, right now I have the valves and springs in my room, lol.

Buff4Prez Yo 01-11-2010 09:11 PM

wow that thing looks abused and neglected. i don't think the cams are gonna help you much. it may have higher lift but with the low compression it won't make much of a difference, at least not until you boost it and it certainly won't allow you to rev higher.

if you want it to handle higher revs or a bit more boost, build up the bottom end. LS and B20's weak spots are the main bearings and the rod bolts.

i did quite a bit of work just to ensure reliability.
