Good Lord...those are wicked shots Doug!

Did you pick up a 400mm lens :o
yup! 400mm F5.6L prime :)
Awesome! Forgot to tell you that the moon shot is sublime. Lots of detail that I thought wouldn't show due to the TC's
Since you are getting into birding, we should go sometime. I normally go with the wife over the winter (I am sure that you remember all my birding photos from last winter). I am even thinking of picking up a sigma 50-500 DG lens, only thing is its kinda slow (f6.3) at the long end, and let the wife use my 100-400 BTW, why so cheap, didn't want to spring for the f2.8 400mm eh? :loco: |
WH-OA! Awesome moon shot... I don't think I've ever seen one so detailed, and the birds... it's almost as if they pose for you in every shot. Seriously, National Geographic is calling you.

maaan soooo impressed i love every picture post you've ever made
wow..look at all that detail in the m00n
:yeah:

Thanks a lot guys!
Wayne, sure thing... Birding is what the 400mm lens was made for. Where abouts do you go? I'm sure you have a few locations that work. I was surprised as well with the moon shot. I knew the 400mm prime took converters well (in fact the 400mm with the 1.4x still resolves down to the pixel level even wide open), but with both converters stacked I didn't expect such great results. For its price the 400mm prime is a stellar performer. Next in line will be the 500mm F4.0L but that might have to wait a year or two... |
damn those are some amazing pictures...you always get the best shots in the best spots...ive always enjoyed your pics. You are a talented guy. Keep up the good work
wow these high end slr cams with nice lenses make pictures soo much more amazing , you can get such candid shots of animals. The moon one has to be the best its one. Its one thing looking at the moon through a telescope but to take a pic and to get to look at it forever is way more awesome.
so the moon IS made out of cheese.
Wow! I think I can see the American flag where Apollo landed. That's crisp detail! j/k on the flag.
