Yonaka Exhaust, Good Purchase?

Hey,

So I've been shopping around for a cat back system. I have looked at the apexi ws2 and the tanabe medallion, and listened to multiple clips on youtube( i dont want that "hi-pitched, attention grabbing sound") while searching i found a yanake system. From what ive found its half the price is almost half that of the ws2 and the medallion. Anyone have any experience, if so how do they perform? and i couldnt get much from youtube, but how do they sound as well.

Thanks.

Buff4Prez Yo 02-23-2011 10:54 PM

they sound exactly how you don't want an exhaust to sound like.

Vida 02-23-2011 10:56 PM

From what I know its pretty quiet.
Im sure its supposed to be a replica of the Apexi World Sport 2 exhaust.

PurpleStuff 02-25-2011 02:24 PM

anything yonaka is absolute ---- in my opinion. yonaka is a cheap knock off replica brand. they make just about everything. i bought yonaka seats once, worst seats ever! stock ek seats were better than those.

save your money and get something proper. don't waste your money on knockoff crap. you'll see what i mean in the long run. if you're looking for something not too loud and somewhat decent in price, you could always go for magnaflow exhaust, i have that, and vida can vouch, it sounds decent.

the sound is like the ctire raspy cheap fart cans.

dashseamusdash 02-25-2011 11:42 PM

I heard the magnaflows were pretty loud? I think if yonaka is cheap ---- like you say ws 2 is whats up. thanks for the help

AcuratePaul 02-26-2011 08:46 AM

can't go wrong with the WS 2.

nizmo 02-26-2011 08:58 AM

whats up with your username?... if i would hazard a guess you are...... nevermind lol.

do your research and choose a quality brand. You pay for what you get... go on Youtube and hear the thousands exhaust sounds and clips. and go from there.

Vida 02-26-2011 10:27 AM

Magnaflows are different.

The one Alex (purplestuff) has is really quiet.

the one I had was pretty deep and loud. Depends which model you get.

And I agree, go on youtube. Your best bet to figuring out how loud you can stand

I like the yonaka exhaust, even though it is a replica it sounds great and its stainless steel so it wont rot out. The only down side to it id say is the muffler looks like complete crap. You have to really tuck it under the bumper so you can barely see it.

I had this exhaust when i had a stock LS motor, really like the way it sounded and the price. Fit perfect too with no mods.

AcuratePaul 02-26-2011 02:30 PM

Well there is a a plus on the exhaust.

Only thing I noticed with youtube clips is well...people have mods on the car and different kinds. So if one guy puts on the Yonaka exhaust on a stock motor might sound decent, but if there are mods like a header, intakes, cams it will sound completely different so the best way to find the exact sound that would come out of your motor would be to find a sound clip of the exact mods that are done to your car as there are on the car the sound clip is coming from. Which could be a challenge to find.

I would go with Apexi ws-2. Most quiet. That's what I'm looking for.
It is the most popular though so you won't be unique in the exhaust category

JDM_gsR 02-28-2011 07:43 AM

RS*R ex-mag are the quietest hands down...I have one and with hytech header, no resonator and a high flow and it's still quieter than most exhausts out there!

PurpleStuff 03-01-2011 01:59 PM

the hks hi power is pretty quiet too. don't know how much they go for, but i would want that as my next exhaust.

AcuratePaul 03-01-2011 03:00 PM

I have the skunk2 with the silencer, custom cat. I find that it's not loud has a deep tone to it.

dashseamusdash 03-04-2011 05:49 PM

whats wrong with my user name? its easy to remember, yeah im checking youtube now, are most exhausts compatible with high flow cats and headers? is there like a universal fit or categories? I'm guessing some will need modifications. Still new at this stuff.

AcuratePaul 03-05-2011 09:47 AM

There is usually modifications with all exhaust. Such as when I did my exhaust I was going to put a high flow cat on it. Mechanic said it would cost me more to do all of that and couldnt grantee a good job so ended up getting a custom cat done for the application to work.

dashseamusdash 03-05-2011 11:39 AM

Alright i gotcha, anyone know of some legitimate places in k-w to get exhaust work done at?

dashseamusdash 03-14-2011 07:07 PM

anyone know any good shops in k-w in general?

D.T.P 03-14-2011 11:09 PM

k-w?

And any muffler that is open chamber will be loud. Look at any stock muffler, you cannot see through it from one end to another. Now on the other hand, you pick up most aftermarket mufflers, they are just open chamber canisters or tanks with some packing on the outside to somewhat deaden the sound. That is why some Magnaflow exhausts are loud and some arent, depending on the model. Also it has a lot to do with the tip size and angle that its cut. If you understand how the sound waves get canceled out, you can build an exhaust to exactly what you want. Otherwise, youtube is your friend.

Make sure whatever system you go with, that it has a mid-pipe resonator (just after the cat). These things do their job in cutting down on the anoying buzzing and high-pitched raspy-ness.

dashseamusdash 03-15-2011 05:14 PM

(kitchener waterloo) Thanks mpr, i'll put that on the check list.
