witch spark plugs to use ?
 

hey guys , im trying to build a N/A, high compression stg2 lsvtec and was wondering with plugs should I go with I hear a lot of good stuff about the NGK V-power BKR7E , wondering if it would be good for my application . thnx

I would go with ones that make your car ignite the fuel and air mixture....thats just me tho

but really, boosted cars, u need a colder heat range... N/A i would stick with the 7's. Oh and stay with NGK... i melted my bosch plugs in my high HP nissan motor lol

copper , platinum , or irridiums ? or makes no difference ?

get iridium's, but platinum are ok too.

Just stick with the copper core plugs. The price difference of the iridium plugs is not worth it. Also for strong NA or boost applications like yours, use one step colder then stock.

NGK V-power are a good choice.

mike, when i had my VE motor, i used OEM copper plugs in it. They were O.K i guess... but i had to replace them often cause they would decrease in performance. I switched to platinum's/iridium's and the performance was the same but they last a ---- load longer.

I don't mind replacing the copper @ every 20k , there cheap . Im just worried about what temp range 2 get .

^Use one stage colder then stock. You shoudl be able to use copper plugs for much longer then 20k...

Ryan, I guess in your specific situation it made a difference. I have the iridium plugs in my civic right now, to be honest. I put them in about 2 years ago or longer (maybe 60-70,000kms). They're still working great. But I noticed no performance gain. Since the copper plugs last half as long or more, but cost less than half as much as iridium's, the difference doesn't add up and it isn't worth the extra $ imo.

sorry mike, when i mentioned "performance" i meant it as how they performed not how many ponies i got LOL. I noticed easier crank time, faster start up and smoother on idle/rolling in 1st gear. Other than that, ZERO pony performance.

I look at it as preventative maintenance, since im a guy and im lazy... i would rather spend the extra cash knowing the plugs are fine for 80,000+kms rather than running to the store and getting a new set.

I never noticed any drastic smoothness over the old plugs, other then the fact that they were new plugs, replacing plugs that had 90k on them...lol. Maybe the nissan engine is a little more tempermental...

use NGK BKR7ES-11 plugs.
