will it be as quiet as stock if..

i cut the rear of bc2
and weld on a piece to install stock mufller?

or will it be stilll loud?

HKJ 04-14-2007 06:20 PM

why not just reinstall your stock muffler instead of hacking up your bc2?

ednyboo 04-14-2007 07:12 PM

because i have jdm length header. and to put the stock midpipe back
its a lot more hassel
and maybe later on i can put some other aftermarket axleback with bc2 pipe if i want to.

so will it be almost near stock if i do that??

WildoutWhiteGSR 04-14-2007 07:58 PM

the only exhaust that sounds near stock is mugen, smsp, hytech, apexi ws and rsr ex-mag.

No it won't solve your problem, just sell your exhaust and buy a quieter one or put the stock one back on.

Your not the only one with a jdm length header...

ednyboo 04-14-2007 09:15 PM

^ are you saying it will be still very very loud?
or will it still make noise but quiet enough for daily?

and what do i need in order to put my stock cat+back on a JDM length header?

canttx 04-14-2007 09:37 PM

custom length cat or cut and extend your midpipe.

ednyboo 04-14-2007 10:30 PM

alex have u found out the measurement yet? :P
zoro was closed. =(

Jdm Header to USDM B-pipe : 16.5"
Jdm Header to JDM B-pipe : 12"
USDM header to USDM B-pipe : 17.5"

if you use the bc midpipe it will be louder than stock, due to the smaller resonator.

ednyboo 04-15-2007 10:25 AM

^thanks alex~
yeah i think cutting bc2 is a bad idea lol .....

DirtyDiper 04-15-2007 10:31 AM

I hav a JDM 4-1 on my ITR, and a stock exhaust. I went to zorro, and they tailored a custom high flow cat for $265.00, works great.

Don't waste a perfectly good BC2 exhaust. You should be able to sell it without any problems.

ednyboo 04-15-2007 12:48 PM

^ lol thats expensive.

alex u what u meant by 16.5" is thats how long the cat has to be right?
so

to clarify

16.5" - USDM CAT Length = the length of the 2.5"->2.25" flange i have to get??

canttx 04-15-2007 02:03 PM

if you want to get a universal high flow cat then bring it to a muffler shop and have them measure the distance between your jdm header and your usdm midpipe. either way just go to a muffler shop and decide what you want to do...they can fab up an adapter or make you a custom sized cat. I brought my own highflow cat and they charged me like $30-$60 to extend it and flange it.
