Wheel Bearings

my bros accord has messed up wheel bearings, n im jus wondering whats the bad things about riding on a messed up wheel bearing? the wheel bearing is only loud something like at a certain rpm..

WildoutWhiteGSR 03-20-2006 03:09 AM

it's annoying

Smartass pHO 03-20-2006 08:28 AM

When it seizes you're in trouble.

Get it changed.

L3wD 03-22-2006 10:14 PM

if its bad enough it can melt the end of ur axle, and ur wheel will come off on the hwy.. fun stuff!! lol, its cheap so might as well change it

karma 03-25-2006 09:15 PM

how much are the bearings ?... i would rather get mine changed too ..

Ken_Masters 03-26-2006 03:05 PM

How much should I expect to pay to get a wheel bearing replaced and do they usually just change the entire hub assembly?

fliptEG 03-26-2006 07:08 PM

its approx 400 for both fronts that parts and labour, non abs

B18Booya 03-26-2006 07:23 PM

wheel bearings themselves are pretty cheap...they are like 80bucks a pop, genuine honda/acura... so your paying for the labour, and yeah generally its a job that'll run you around 400 for the fronts when all is said and done as someone mentioned... you can try and to it yourself, but you better know someone with a bearing press...

now what makes a loud clunk when u hit the brakes and turn? the bearing? cv shafts, or ball joints?

Must be that time of the year, i'm having the same problem. A clunking , thumping kind of sound while driving from the front passenger side.

From what i can gather it can be any of those 3 things (bearing, cv shafts, or ball joints).

Guess there will be a few of us crawling under our cars this week.

midnight_breeze33 03-28-2006 12:04 AM

yep! i get clunks on mine when i brake or take corners..Im thinking ball joints....but i have warentee on the shafts neways..so im replacing those again anyways..takes about 15 min..so meh. I heard ball joints go quick if u take corners HARRRRD! so Ooopsie.

FuzzyLS BRO 03-28-2006 12:34 AM

check the ball joints, i had one go out on me on the hwy when i was going about 140km/h. not fun stuff. if the car is older, change them, it'll save you alot of coin from fixing everything after it brakes.

there = as in a place eg: over there in the corner

their = person = this pizza is theirs

the're = as in they are, the're going to the store
