Mobil 1 is top notch sort of oil and fram is up there too..... good choice brother!

non-VTEC Jul 24, 2009 05:45 PM

castrol syntec and QS filters.

currently looking to switch to amsoil or RP in the near future

moptrf Jul 24, 2009 08:23 PM

do a Search on Fram filters, some of you may be surprised by alot of people calling Fram the cheapest paper filter out there!

Action Jackson Jul 24, 2009 09:46 PM

Mobil 1, Castrol, Quaker State, Valvoline 5W30 Synthetic.

Napa Gold Filter. The Fram filter test is a bit dated but they were the lower quality filter.

nwarrior Jul 24, 2009 09:49 PM

Yea I just did a search on FRAM filters, VERY disapointed...cardboard backing... like come on. Next time you change your oil keep your old FRAM and cut it open you will see how bad it is, I am thinking of changing my oil again and filter just because of this.

eddie_23 Jul 24, 2009 11:37 PM

Redline or Motul with stock filter

KjB Jul 25, 2009 12:17 AM

good to know. i'll probably switch now that i see that.

RallyGSR Jul 25, 2009 05:53 PM

Formula 1 synthetic 5w30 for last 150,000km (car now has 305K).

Acura filter. Buy them by the case and ask for a discount (they should give 10-15%).

Yes Fram is a cheaper product (not BAD - just cheaper).

And BTW all Fram oil filters are made in China along with motomaster, QS, and many others. My friend does trading there and was in the factory. Actually brought back the catalogue from them with pictures of all the different ones they make... that was a good laugh:giggle:. Mind you Fram air filters are made in America!

non-VTEC Jul 25, 2009 07:25 PM

fyi: take a close look on the printing on the OEM Honda oil filters (specifically the ones sold in Canada). if they say honeywell on them.....guess what.....you just put an overpriced fram filter on.

nothing wrong with fram filters as long as they are replaced in the proper intervals.

nwarrior Jul 25, 2009 10:21 PM

I saw a side by side of a FRAM and a HONDA filter taken apart, I can look for hte picture again, trust me there is a difference.

bigz92 Jul 25, 2009 10:23 PM

i have seen and cut open plenty of filters...there is more than one supplier/manufacturer for Honda filters. depending where you are from (Canada vs. USA vs. Japan) they are all manufactured differently. up until a couple years ago the Canadian OEM filters are made by Honeywell (fram).

Honda USA filters are made by filtech in the US.

Honda japan filters are made by Toyo Roki in japan.

makes no difference honestly......as long as you change the oil and filter at regular intervals it will be perfectly fine.

i used it back when i had my sunfire. worked exactly as it said it would

non-VTEC Jul 27, 2009 05:51 PM

the lucas stuff works well at increasing your oil pressure....for added protection i dont think it really helps in that area.
