what to look for when buying a motor
 
i need a new motor for my car, was looking into getting the same one i have now.

(my current motor burns oil)

anyways was looking at a b18c GSR motor for cheap, its actaully too cheap. any tips of what i should look into when buying such a motor. its currently out of the car.

Make sure you get a warranty with it.

No way of telling really. It could be leaking everywhere, but could just be cleaned up.

Its a chance you take when buying private...

well at least see if they have a compression test, thats always good to know. And you can always check under the valve cover to see if there's a lot of burnt oil in the head and what not. theres not many but a few things you can do.

Compression test will probably your best choice. Also if you're buying from the owner, try to find out why they are selling it. Did they upgraded the engine, or did they replaced it because of burnt oil or other issues.
