Default What headers can work with a B18A1 engine?

hey everyone I have a 92 integra GS it runs great and all, but I wanted to replace the header to something different so I could increase performance. I could just do a swap, Im going to be doing so in a year or so, but for now I wanna try out a different header, and maybe even put on a Vtec and reprogram the ECU. Whats compatible? help please

what do you wanna swap too? you're pretty much limited to a 4-2-1 since a 4-1 won't clear the cross member unless you replace it with a traction bar.

and maybe even put on a Vtec and reprogram the ECU
if you mean putting on a vtec head a.k.a ls/vtec swap, you'll need one that's taller than one that'll fit an LS but still need it to be 4-2-1.

your best bet is to hold off till you decide on what exactly you wanna do with the engine and work from there.

Would I be better off grabbing a turbo instead of doing all this work?

you can't just simply just toss a price range. there's many factors that come in to play.

Ok I want to get performance out of it, I wanna run it on the track and grab a 14-13 second quarter mile time, also I do wish to get good handling. Style wise I dont plan on doing anything to the body anytime soon, that will be the very last thing I'll do to the car. I have an performance exhaust on it, i dont know if i have a stainless steel header yet. I just bought the car 3 months ago, so I didnt really get a chance to check. I was thinking of grabbing a stainless steel header, and possibly somehow getting more power on the car either going with a turbo or a LS/Vtec mod. I wanted to do this around march or may. Right now the car is an Auto but Im not gonna have a problem converting it in march/may. I have a guy who said hed do the conversion and tranny swap for 900. I just dont know how long it'll take. He told me a few weeks for the conversion. I was hoping to get a turbo or LS/Vtec done in not too much time. Whats realistic wen it comes to time and cost for either changes? Is there any other way I can get power out of my car?

check out www.g2ic.com . from wat u wrote its gonna take time n quite a bit of money to get it done. ls/vtec should b a bit cheaper than a custom turbo.since u r like me "not machincally incline" u will have alot of home work n research to do. good luck on ur build, which ever route u take

http://www.g2ic.com/
I'd wounder if its going to be a drag car maybe starting with a small turbo on a non-vtec.
Its not going to the cheapest but its all bolt-on.
If i remember you can run 8-12 psi on a stock motor

Alright I think I'll try the turbo then. Also I wanted to know something about the LS/Vtec setup. I heard that it wasnt great to do it to your car cause at High RPMS the rods may break or something because the block wasnt meant for revving at high rpms is that true?

Alright Thanks a lot u guys. I really appreciate all the help. Im gonna calculate the cost for either then see where Im gonna go with this. I really like the idea of the Ls/vtec. Just another question i wanted to know about was if I turbo the car and tried driving it in the winter wouldnt it flood the engine if i drove it through snow since it would go all over the front end of the car?

FYI, it would be advisable for you to perform some sort of preliminary research (ie. use the search feature on TI)
