So I just noticed these 2 metal ball like parts hanging out of the gap between the license plate and back bumper..

The brackets have rusted out and they're hanging freely by the wires..my guess is that it has something to do with airbags? i have no idea what they are and if I'm going to be running into any issues because of this..please help!

 

Lol I've never laughed so hard in my life. Something to do with the air bags lol dude theyre your license plate bulbs hense the bulbs inside of the hens when you turn your light on they light up lol. Go to junk yard pick up new bracket. I would do this ASAP before your airbag goes off in your face lol. Sorry I sound like an *** it's just too funny

Those things being as exposed to (and untreated against) the elements as they are, they rot out easily. If you're trying to get the factory screws in there but they don't hold, perhaps try some slightly larger threaded metal self-tapping screws.

I've done this with great success.

and yes you do need licence plate lights. I have a nice $110 ticket for not having any.

OR just wire an LED strip instead of using those. looks waay cooler and brighter and never have to worry bout them rusting or changing bulbs
