Water Inside Driver door
 

i had my driver side speaker replaced and was told there was a little bit of water around the speaker and wireing. im not sure how it could have gotten in as there are no holes or rust in the door. the only way i could see water getting in it is from the window. is there anyway to reseal the door to ensure water dosent get in it anymore?

your weather strip might be not clipped in properly. the inner black piece that the window comes out of.

is it just re-installing the same weather stripping to fix the problem or do i have to buy a new one?

Its the same install. But you have to take it off properly.

What you do is:

Take off the door pannel by taking these screws off

The door will still be in tact. There are clips all around the door that clip into the metal of your door. Take it off, give it a nice tug on each corner. You wont break it

Then this is your weather strip

Turn your door pannel around so your looking at the inside of it. and where that strip is, there are little silver teeth that are attatched to the strip and they bite into the door panel. Use plyers and bend them to take it out. Then get some weather seal from canadian tire and put only a thin line across the door pannel. Then stick the strip back on and put the teeth back in the holes. You have to do it fast before the weather seal drys.

You dont have to use the weather seal probably. Your strip is probably just loose.

hmmm i dont think the weather striping would allow water inside even if it was bad, im not sure. but my guess would be the window seal on the outside. mine is kinda bad and i can watch water drip down my window into my door. just a thought.

The weather stripping that goes around the door, or that plastic peace behind the door panel will not get water into the door. If your getting water into the door, check the rubber window molding on the door where the the window sits against on the out side. I circled that part to check.

that will allow water to get in. ive done this before. the strip in and outside of the car will cause it.

Thanks a lot for all the feedback guys, i took a quick look at outer strip that spike was talking about and i didnt notice anything out of the ordinary. Ill have to wait till this weekend to take the door panel off and see if the inner strip is the problem. Thanks again

do it soon before u have to replace the door or patch the bottom.
