Wanting to add some mods.

Hey everyone, so I just baught my first manual car last week. I got an 01 integra special edition.

Now I know it is only 140 hp, I was wondering what are some cheap mods i can add to it to raise the hp a bit. I was thinking about an intake and an exhaust.

Any replies are welcome, but please don't flame me or anything lol, I'm sorta new with cars, just recently got into them.

This is my first manual and it only has 137k on the original engine, so I don't want to do a vtec swap right away. And obviously no rice ;)

Thanks again,

Kang

Get a intake manifold, a header, and an exhaust for a slight power upgrade, anything more then that will require much more work.

Cool, yeah i don't want to overkill it. Any idea how much all that will cost? My uncle has a tire shop where I can get everything done @ no cost.

Re: Wanting to add some mods.

Your going to need to shop around, ******** is one place, optionJDM, Garage16, are all places that can order them in for you, ebay is another.

- Intake manifold is going to be somewhere between $150 and $300 depending on what brand you go with.

- header you will have a little more wiggle room, as you can find a JDM GSR header for as low as $60 used on kijiji.ca (I have one I would sell you too :P ) which would give you 4-2-1 setup with an exit hole of 2.5" Or you can get a megan racing, or yonka, or any of the other brands. Basically paying for its lighter weight, and the name. As your price range is going to keep you from going with rmf or any of the higher end ones.

- Exhaust is your looking at roughly 400 on average, it can be found for much less but again your buying used, and mixing and matching parts. IE. your buying a mid pipe for 150 to 200 make sure you get it with the flex pipe or cat, as it will save you some time and money. and your muffler you can pick whatever you like, but be prepared to spend about 100+ for a universal that you will have to weld and get fit properly. Where as spending a little extra is the better way to go completely eliminating the need to visit the muffler shop.

sorry for the long response. Others might have other opinions but that's just how I see it.

I agree with everything Tyrone said...start off with intake, intake manifold, exhaust manifolds(header), exhaust...after that would be internal work like cam shafts and cam gears.

I wouldn't bother with much...just pick up an intake. Until you are ready, don't invest in much for such little gains.

I would suggest you do a tranny swap to make the most of your horsepower, and you'll have a lot more fun :)
