What car can u make faster a GTI VR6 or a GTI 1.8 Turbo ???? ANOYONE

What do u think i can make faster ?? my friend plans on buying one im telling him to get the turbo any suggestions.

there was a VR6 motor at canadian cylender heat the other day, it's a really good block for boost, closed deck design, and i hear those motors can take alot of boost.
