Valve Cover
this week ill be painting my valve cover. i wanted to know to remove the valve cover you just got to remove the 4 bolts around the end.
and also if your painting your valve cover do you have to put it in the oven, is there another way of heat treating it? |
I believe there are 6 for a b18b1. 4 in each corner, one beside the 4th spark plug and one near the dizzy.
Just get paint stripper. put it all over, let it sit till you see all the paint lift and bubble, take it off with steel wool. then sand n paint |
how much sand paper is needed, and wat grits should i use
|
Im sure other people will say other.
when you take the paint off it will be all silver. a polish color. start with 180, 220, 400 then wetsand with 800. its a valve cover and doesnt need to be wetsanded with 1000, if your looking for this look http://i48.tinypic.com/25rjrzn.jpg But if you want this look, the shiny finish, http://i46.tinypic.com/110kwwg.jpg Id do 180,220,400,800wetsand then 1000wetsand One package of each sandpaper is enough. youll need like 2 sheets each grit. i think it comes in packs of 6 |
The vtec valve cover have 8 bolts, and the non vtec ones have 7 bolts.
|
actually there are 7 bolts for a b18b1

Go to Canadian Tire, buy the aerosol can that says "Paint remover - Really works" should be $9.99/Can. It actually "really works" haha. I did my rims, sprayed, let sit for 2 mins and power washed them and it flaked off nicely.
