Used Clutch
Are there any visible signs of a worn out clutch? I need to replace my Si's clutch and I found a used one for cheap, off a 96. By visual inspection are there any tell-tale signs of a clutch that's still good? If it helps, this clutch includes the clutch disc, pressure plate, and throw out bearing.
Thanks in advance. |
The bearing is relatively cheap and should be replaced.
You can look for obvious signs of wear. Low friction material, scoring, burn marks, bent fingers on the pressure plate..... How cheap is this thing? I'm pretty sure you can get one of those Exedy kits brand new for ~$100 on ebay...... |
It's only $50 obo. Miles recommeded the Exedy as well.
I believe the Exedy ones are OEM replacement, and they are pretty cheap as well.
w00t another install, yes!! |
I had an Exedy Organic Clutch in my car, drives a little more aggressive from stock. I was told that the Organic Kit was similar to Type R clutch.
where are you going to get your clutch replaced? mines gotta get done....still.....
Trenell, Mike, Fuzzy, & Glenn Services
or TMFG Services..for short...lol
bri, there's no use buying that thing and spending the time to install it because the way we (mainley you) will be driving the car it's gonna ---- up anyway. i think the best thing is to buy a new clutchmasters stage 1 and then sell it when you sell the car.
If bryan wants to track it, and never have clutch issues again. Buy the Exedy Ceramic Clutch. It should last him a long time. Plus its not too bad to drive on the street neither. Another Plus, no break in period required. Plug and Play.
^^ Ceramic, eh? I'll keep that in mind. I'm looking for kits now, and found a few Exedys on eBay for pretty cheap. I'm going to look around here, though, to compare.
^^ I can't remember, but did you ever drive or go for a drive with me when I had the Ceramic disc in it?
I think so. The clutch grabbed real quick, right?
do you guys have time to 2 clutch installs? :)
