type r spoiler

i never had a spoiler on my car
so now i am thinking about getting the type r spoiler for my car
is it hard to drill holes in the trunk to put it in on? someone told me it will be a bitch to do

who done this in the past?

Vida 05-01-2010 11:54 AM

Nooooooooooooooo. :( no spoiler. slam it to the ground and enjoy spoilerless.

dimasbenz 05-01-2010 11:58 AM

That was my original plan also. I had a type R spoiler in hand. but I got creative and took off the wing, and BAM, my car had a new face. In terms of the hole...you can just drill it through, the only problem is finding the exact spot where. The last thing you want is for it to be off. Just for reference, the holes of the Type r spoiler fit exactly where the LS spoiler goes.

Look under your hatch, Acura marked where you have to drill,

i know but my car never came with a spoiler at all
and i buy one with the trunk already i can never match my car colour because its so rare
up close u will be able to see the difference

Vida 05-01-2010 12:06 PM

Yea its one of those colours that are impossible to match. We'll if you got it, sweet man.

I just put on a Type R spoiler on my car about 2 weeks ago, it is really easy. I did not have a stock spoiler either. As Vida mentioned above I used the indents that Acura provides on the sides of the trunk, as a reference and drilled the holes. At first I was also worried i might screw something up. But it was not hard at all. Took me less than 10 minutes.

There are already marks in the trunk on were to drill the holes. You'll see them when you open your trunk up, just drill them in the center and your good to go.

dimasbenz 05-02-2010 03:15 PM

ya i popped it open today i belive the holes are covered by some rubber pieces cause once i popper those pieces out i seen holes so looks like i just gotta drill at the top and im good to go

I had a type R spoiler. But then everyone started to get it(talking 3 years ago). It is really easy to do it. took me 10min to install.

Do black or Carbon Fib...

If you ad a black front lip clip, it'll look nice with your dark gray.

LOL, word... sometimes two tone isn't bad, just depends on how it's done.

Buy yeah, I understand... haha...

I'm thinking about replacing my doors, but I don't wanna have them a different colour for the time being, as like you said, "I don't wanna look like a rasta". haha

lucky u at least your colour is more common to deal with
i remember my friends was buying a silver teg also and it was pretty easy to see if the car has been painted in places because of the colour
try to get a door with the same paint.. hopefully it will match
keep in mind that over time colour fades a bit so it might look fresher or duller than your body paint.. good luck on your search for your doors;)
ill keep my eyes open for you, ps you should put a lip on your teg! ;)

yeah, the "VSM" paint color is pretty common from what I've heard.

As for the front lip, I plan on buying a skirt package after lowering my car.

My rims look f*cking hideous right now without it being lowered... I have like a 2 inch gap on my front end and about a 1 inch in the back.

lol my friend has the same problem when he put on his 17 inches this year
its because your body is actually higher from the ground than mine is
so u for sure need to lower it

Vida 05-03-2010 03:12 PM

VSM paint is common. The problem is that silver is also the hardest to match. I had the same issue with my teg, i was gonna paint the front end cuse it was horrid, but you'll see that if you do the shades will look different due to fading from the older paint and such. So i would've had to do the whole body, which I was gonna do..until my car went to the grave. Lol.

Dima, i like the way your lip matches, looks nice man. My sugestion is a drop. That will set the car off really nicely and will compliment the stealth look of the car.

dimasbenz 05-03-2010 04:01 PM

ya man i want to do a drop
just waiting on my buddy to save some money
we wanna do it around the same time
