Tune Up Service Wanted

Hi All,

I posted the previous message a while ago and haven't had the time to get the work done. I've done an oil change since then but would like to know if some one here has the time and know how to do the work for me. Ideally i'd be looking for a member that has a home garage or similar set up and won't charge me shop rates. Please let me know if you are interested in doing the work and can provide a qoute for parts and service.

Cheers,

Nejo

Hello Comrads,

I'm looking for a bit of help. I have a 2000, 5 spd Integra SE with 118k on it. I've had the car for about 6 months and would like to do a tune up on it. I have some one lined up who will do the work for me but I'll need to buy all the parts. He suggested buying NGK spark plugs and wires and either GM Syncromesh or Honda MTF for the tranny fluid change. Could someone please refer me to a place that might be cheaper than partsource where I could pick up all the parts.

Here is what he will be doing for me, could you kindly advise if there are any additional things that may have been left out or parts that you would suggest using for this tune up.

• Replace Oil Filter
• Change Engine Oil
• Replace Brake Fluid
• Change Transmission Fluid
• Replace Spark Plugs
• Replace Distributor Cap and Rotor
• Replace Fuel Filter
• Replace Air Filter
• Adjust Valves
• Replace Valve Cover Gasket

Thanks and as always your comments are greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Nejo

Thanks. Sorry an add on to my message, an honest mechanic that will strip off any parts/service that isn't required from the list above.

actually all those things should be checked/replaced......thats a good list to start.

your best bet is to buy parts from the dealer. OEM parts usually fit the best and last the longest. the only thing i would not buy form the dealer is the oil filter or spark plug wires. the wire set from the dealer is insanely over priced and the OEM Honda of Canada oil filter sucks ass and is no better than a fram filter. the OEM wires usually never go bad to begin with so i would not replace them unless they go bad. but if you have to replace them get a set of NGK blue plug wires. there just like OEM fit and quality.

the one thing on your list i did not see.........since your engine has over 100k on it.... are you sure the timing belt has been replaced? its recommended every 100k and at the same time you should have the water pump and timing belt tensioner replaced as well.

also you might want to add a coolant system flush to your list......

non-vtech,

Thanks for your suggestions.

Re: Timing belt/water pump, I've been told by many and as per my service manual my car won't require a replacement till 160km. I plan on doing it in about a year as my car now has 123km on it.

NEVER EVER procrastinate on changing ur timing belt and water pump ... otherwise u are going to end up in ---- load of repairs .. including ur valves (lot of dough!) .. atleast get the belt checked for any kind of damage and wear and tear! ... i have learnt the hard way to rather get it changed every 80 to 90K ..

Thanks for the comments/suggestions.

I've pm'ed Dave Yo and am waiting for a reply. I'm pretty sure I could learn to do most of the stuff myself but I don't have the time, space nor tools. Plus I'd rather have some one who knows what they are doing save me the pain and headache of screwing something up.

Cheers,

Nejo

Still waiting for Dave Yo to respond. Anyone else have a referral or want to do the work and make some cash for spring?

Let me know,

Nejo

Still waiting for this service. Come on, no one here wants to make a bit of cash and help out another member. Sikkkkktegra pm'ed me but I haven't heard back from him and Dave Yo is too busy.

Please let me know if you have the time and knowledge to do the work. I'll pay you in cash, not beer unless you prefer that later.

Cheers,

Nejo
