Tune up
 

Hi i everyone i just both the NGK sparkplug wires for my integra and i just wanna ask if somebody know if i should change the sparkplug with NGK sparkplug too to tune-up my car what else do i need to change to complete the tune-up coz my car doesn't pull hard when i start pressing the gas and if its cold i'm hearing noise like two metal scratching each other somebody say maybe the belts or the pulley thanks (",)

A regular tune up usually just consists of spark plugs, wires, new air filter, oil change.

As for the scratching metal sound where is exactly coming from the engine bay or maybe underneath?

Tnx for the message acuratepaul its a big help for me should i buy a performance sparkplug too or regular ones is ok actually when i'm driving my car before i store it in my garage im hearing that noise on the left side of the engine i just dont know which one coz i dont really know anything about cars yet but one of the mechanic told me its normal and they thighten up the ac belt alternator belt the sound gets low but after two three days it went back again the noise like what i said specially when the engine is cold tnx Again

Hmmm well belts can squeak when they are cold since they hardern up. If your mechanic tightened them and the noise went away for a few days well at least you know what it is. Maybe just change the belt they cost like 18$ from crappy tire. As for spark plugs well I like NGK spark plugs. But any will really do but remember you get what you pay for. Better spark plugs may equal better fuel milage and just cause the motor to run better.

i am also hearing that weird sound...only when it is cold... im thinking i need a new timing belt...cause its due for one...you think it could be that too?...

Aldrin i'm thinking about that too but i dont know how to check the belt coz im scared to take off the valve cover but i'm planning to change it next summer do u know how much it gonna cost me

depends on where you go... 350-600... just ask around.. im not 100% sure if its the timing belt though... maybe go to the meet..whenever it gets warm..and have the guys listen to it..

Buy cheapest NGK sparkplugs. No need to go bosch 3/4 contact bs...the cheapest ngks with the bigger/fatter electrode end rather than the pointy iradium bs, work the best. That is whats on your engine originally out of the factory and there is no need to replace with anything fancier that will just mess up quicker.

Wires i wouldnt even touch if they are still good. Would change air and fuel filter, also inspect distributor cap and rotor and replace if needed. Simple things like pcv valve is always good to replace. And ofcourse an oil change is good once in a while.

Moreover, you have an older car, you have to expect power drop from the engine. All seals and gaskets start leaking and loosing compression in the cylinders. Over time that is natural and normal. Seafoam the engine and see if it gets better.

Regarding the sound you are hearing, if by left side of the engine you mean the driver side, then it could be a pulley or even a timing belt tensioner. Too hard to tell without actually seeing the car myself.

Timing belt should be change every 100k usually along with the water pump.

Like aldrine said it depends where you go if you find a guy working out of a garage like I did. It cost me 300$ parts and labour. This was for my old B18b motor. But a local garge will charge around the $500 marker.

Acuratepaul i bought my car last june the guy change the stock engine with b18c1 i ask the guy if he change the timing belt but he never response and i'm worried if that sound is from the timing belt i'm scared if it'll breAk its gonna mess up the engine and its gonna cost me a lot of money to fix it but my bro and my friend told me that my engine is stil good but still i wat it to be checked this summer tnx everyone who message me more power to toronto integras peace

If you are worried about your timing belt, just remove the valve cover and inspect it visually. See how teeth set against the gear as they come on and off either gears, check backside and see if ribs are sticking through. check tension also...just see if it has play between two gears and on the sides.

That should be a 10minute job.

get it replaced before it breaks , dont wait till next summer, if you bring the car by my house i can check it out for you , possibly i should have time on sunday

You're talkin' about the copper NGK V power plugs? I think they're the same price as platinums right now (which too have a pointy electrode), because you need to preorder them (if you're gonna buy from partsource or Canadian tire). I got my last set for $4 a plug- know anywhere cheaper?
