Tranny problems

:werd:... k to start this off.. ---- my life.. haha well i have a weeee bit of a problem.. i think?:nonono: well i was driving my teg last weekend and me and my buddy are motorin along it was night time out in the country, no street lights or anything and BAM! the road ends.. all dirt and its at least a foot down so my car munched on the gravel real ------ good, and then we started to smell something burning, so at this point im having a spaz haha so we get out pop the hood try and locate where the smell is comming from, then after a few mins it goes away so im hoping maybe a plastic bag or some ---- melted on my exhaust like has happen b4, so so damage or anything, that i thought at the time... sooo... monday comes. leaving work and i hear this supercharger like noise.. BUT only in 2nd gear.. i was just reading about it online and other people have had this happen, was bearings and ---- inside the tranny decided to go for ----, and a main shaft.. i dont have any problems shifting or anything at all so question is.. is it BAD to keep driving it like that? haha if my tranny decides to go for ---- down the line no biggy ill throw a new one in, but would this cause damage or anything to the motor is my real concern..

May be a broken gear, bad barrings. Loose shaft. Could be many things. Without us seeing it, its very hard to diagnose it.

I'd jack up your car and take a good look underneath, just to see if there was any damage from hitting that rough road. Check the bottom on the transmission casing and make sure there are no cracks or holes.

Is it leaking anything on the ground?

Next, I'd drain the transmission fluid and check for metal flakes/chunks etc... If it's all clean, put new fluid in.

Can you feel any grinding or vibrations or anything different when driving in 2nd vs any other gear? Can you feel it through the shifter?

I had a plastic bag get stuck melted to my exhaust once... WORST SMELL EVER!!! lol. Is that what this 'burning' smelled like? Or did it have a more oily type smell?

well the noise in 2nd went away for 2 days.. then came back.. only now in 5th and louder, im gona assume its deffinatly the tranny cuz it only does it when the clutch is ingaged.
