Throttle Body Question

So I have a Skunk2 IM for my B18C1. I'm still looking for an AEM LS or ITR CAI, and getting rid of my GS-R CAI, but I am not sure what throttle body to use.

I have been told that I will need an aftermarket TB when I install my Skunk2 IM.I did some searches on here and had little success

I guess question #1 is " Is that information correct?

#2 Can I use an ITR TB or should I go for an aftermarket TB?
#3 Do I need an aftermarket or ITR TB cable?

If anyone has a GS-R setup with a Skunk 2 IM or first hand knowledge of this application, your help would be much appreciated.

You need a B16 or an ITR throttle body, or you can go aftermarket. You also need the throttle cable as well.

Someone can chime in with some more specifics, thats as far as I know.

you will be able to use the stock GSR throttle body.

the only thing that will look funny is the fact that the GSR throttle body rotor is backwards so the throttle cable is on the passengers side rather than on the top of the manifold like the LS/ITR/B16 manifolds.

other than that it will work no problem.....

both BHG and non-vtec are correct. You can use whatever TB you choose.

your gonna need the itr throttle cable though either way

Oh and whatever TB you choose, have it portmatched to the same diameter as the manifold opening. I believe it's either 64mm or 65mm.

Trenell,

I'm pretty sure I've read that the IM opening is 65mm. Who do I take the parts to, to do this port match? A machine shop? Also, estimated cost?

If it's less expensive to get an aftermarket TB then porting the existing TB I'll do that.

Canadian Cylinder Head or Concept on Wheels. They could both do it. I'm not sure of the pricing.

I think the only TB I know of that has a 65mm opening is the Edlebrook one

Got another question regarding this whole application. Why cant I use the AEM intake I have now? Other then the 1/4 inch difference in pipe diameter, whats the difference? Will it not align properly?

Just curious because I am having a lot of trouble selling my GS-R CAI. Been for sale for a while and not a sniff, even though I am selling it for less the half of what they sell for brand new.

^ its because of the bends in the GSR CAI. Since the TB sits lower on the stock GSR manifold, you need to use a different intake. The TB sits alot higher if you have a S2IM hence the reason to use a different intake.
