temperature gauge usually shows cold.

my temperature gauge is usually likes to only go up 1/5 of the way. occassionally it goes up 2/5 of the way. i replaced the thermostat a couple of months ago. the radiator was bled, the top hose was hot and the lower hose was cooler. the fans do kick on.

could it be my ect sensor, the one wire switch?

thanks.

any codes?

maybe it's just the gauge on the cluster.

you could always jump the ect sensor wires and see if it moves.

i haven't read any codes yet and honestly i haven't looked much into the helms until now. i'm lazy and looked at it way to much in recently weeks :) but it looks like the gauge test would be quick and eliminate that possiblity of the sending unit being bad.

i'll jump the wire to ground first.

How do you read codes? do you need a special device for this?

high-octane 09-07-2005 10:26 AM

anyone?

you can use an OBDII scanner (buy it from crappy tire or walmart) if you have a OBDII engine or with a paper clip.

It's best to buy a helm's manual for your specific car in order to address the code. OR google the code.

***DISCLAIMER**** . DO NOT ATTEMPT if you are not familiar with electronics and or wiring. if you ---- up your car ...I will laugh at you. Get it done by a professional instead.

To activate the flashing check engine light, first we must jump the ECU. Find the factory diagnostic plug. It should be located next to the the ECU. The ECU itself is in the passenger side footwell, underneath the glovebox. The diagnostic plug should have a two-pin connecter with a brown and black wire.

Using a paperclip, jump the two wires together and turn your key to the ON position.

To decipher the ECU code, we use a little formula. When the ECU uses a long flash, it stands for 10, and a short flash stands for 1. Therefore a long flash plus three short flashes would equal 13.

Keep in mind this is only for 1992-2000 Hondas and 1994-2000 Acuras.
