Temperature gauge not functioning

So Guys, i finally picked up the car i have always been looking for a Silver DB7 SE :D

problem I'm having right now is that the temperature gauge is not working at the moment right now when the car is in the on position (not started) the gauge goes slightly up a bit, but once its started the gauge reads out as if it was dead cold.

car blows out nice heat with out a problem, does not blow out cold air when the car is nicely warmed up after 5 minutes. car has no leaks what so ever, would could be the possible problems?

so far what i could think of is,

Faulty sensor or temp gauge is damaged.

has anyone ever had a similar problem like this?

Thanks

Tommy

Tommy boy, start by changing the coolant temp sensor, I'm sure u can pull one off an engine at a junk yard and stick it in your pocket.

my car was having the same problem.

i traced it to the sending unit when i took off the connector, put a wire inside and grounded it and turned the car to ignition positon. if the temperature gauge shoots up to hot (it does it fast, so turn it off quickly to avoid damaging the gauge), it's the sending unit. if doesn't move, it's probably the ect sensor.

well last night at idle, the gauge went up ever so slightly so its very intermittent, where is the sending unit?

Found it its part number 37750-PH2-015 (thermo unit which is in the middle of the 3)

going to try to ground out the sensor first... hope it works!

New sensorrrrr. You'll be able to tell if the fan's not turning on in the engine bay.
