suspension setup

How much could I expect to pay for type R spring and strut combo, used at a wrecker. The car has ebay coilovers that are dumped, and 17'w/ 40 series tires, and I cant stand the ride any more. what is a good setup? Keep in mind its a a daily driver that never raced and I'm on a tight budget ....any info on springs would be great I already have KYB struts.
thanks

tegra 07-01-2008 09:49 AM

for daily driving i'd say tokico hp shocks with some tein springs. thats what im thinking of switching to, right now im on koni yellows with h&r springs but the ride is way to stiff for DD so im selling my set-up. you should call High Speed Performance he has some amazing prices IMO.

richie 07-01-2008 03:06 PM

depends how low you want to go.

D1KINGZ 07-01-2008 05:16 PM

PIC's hands down.

Premium Dude 07-01-2008 06:32 PM

Bilstein HD/Koni Red + something like a Tein H-tech or H&R OE would be nice for street driving. Tein S-tech if you need a larger drop.

What's the deal with these PICs?. I've been reading about them on HT, but can't figure out if they're actually a better option than a Koni Yellow + Ground Control, or if everyone is just high on them because they sponsor a bunch of HT events and give away free prizes.

im running konisports w/ sportlines. i DD on the hardest setting w/o power steering

The guys in the ITR forum on Honda-Tech get all wet talking about these. I'm becoming convinced it's because PIC is a forum sponsor heavily involved in the community.

Not to mention its a bad recommendation in the first place. It seems to me the OP is asking for a soft setup for DD. Whats the use of getting full coilovers, with mediocre spring rates, if he NEVER races? If body roll is the concern, swaybars are far more effective at tackling that issue, and they wont impact ride quality. On a DD there is no use in over springing the car.

WHITE_SE_R 07-04-2008 04:30 PM

first lets re-invent the wheel.....what is a good, comfortable dd sreet spring.....I already have KYB gas struts so forget everything about full coilovers and whatever PIC's are. Maybe a eibach sportline sping is my best bet I priced them out at arond 350. anyone ever had these??

non-VTEC 07-04-2008 05:08 PM

i will be posting up a PIC review within the next couple weeks once i get my replacment parts. it will have both good and bad information.

you cant go wrong with ground-control/koni setup. they work very well.

iv got sportlines w/ koni yellows. they are great im really happy wiht my suspension setup...but i haev been concidering getting GC coilovers. correct me if im wrong but doesnt the GC coilovers come with ebiach springs anyways? reason being i think my front end looks 2 high theres more gap between teh fender in the front. i have theis setup on a 93 Da but doesnt seem 2 look the same so the ajdustability would solve my problem otherwise sportlines are great

konisports 3 way adj.
sportines
megan racing LCA's
supension technique F+R swaybars
SPC adj. upper balljoints
front upper strutbrace
cpillar bar
custom Bpillar/harnessbar triangulating down to the seatbelt bolts
i need 2 get: front lower, rear lower and upper strutbars and tractionbars

Well OEM integra spring rates are as follows:

Front: 212lbs/in
Rear: 117lbs/in

To get the most OEM like ride, you will want to stay as close to those rates as possible, and minimizing the drop would be a good idea.

The Eibach Sportlines are a nice set of springs. They are rated at 30% stiffer, both front and back. That means their rates should be:

Front: ~275lbs/in
Rear: ~150lbs/in

You can also get the Pro-Kit which is only 10-15% stiffer then OEM. Assuming 15%, your spring rates would be:

Front: ~245lbs/in
Rear: ~135lbs/in

The only thing with Eibach's is that they have an equal front/rear drop which can result in an odd stance. Another spring I can recommend for a soft ride is the RSR Ti2000 spring. Its a bit pricey though, but thats your call.

^ sport line are 1.5 for the rear 1.7 for the front

Well for your year its 1.8F and 1.5R, so you are right. But the OP has a DC, or at least thats what the avatar suggests. :)

blown90b16teg@11psi 07-04-2008 09:36 PM

i guess my suspension was instaled wrong or somethiing cuz the front look 2 high was lower on my other DA

WHITE_SE_R 07-05-2008 06:28 PM

Thanks for all the great info, I think the sport lines are probabley my best bet, they sound like exactley what I'm looking for. A slightly modified set up over oem.
Also what else could I benefit from I'm already running...
-kyb struts (basic ones g2's I think)
-ingalls camber kit
-upper stut bars (front and back)
-energy suspension polyeurathane bushings

maybe bigger sway bars, what differance would these make for dd

non-VTEC 07-05-2008 06:55 PM

eibach sportline springs are a good choice. you will not be disappointed.

for added handling i would invest in a ITR rear lower sway bar. it's makes a night and day difference over the stock sway bar. there are a few "custom" mounting brackets available to choose from.

Swaybars are a fantastic tool for suspension tuning, because they have an enormous impact on roll resistance, but don't have much of an effect on ride quality. So you can retain a soft suspension for daily driving, but at the same time you can ensure that your cornering ability, and front/rear bias is in check.

So yes, its a worthy upgrade, especially in your situation. There are quite a few swaybar options out there, the OEM ITR bar being the most popular because of its price. (Usually around $100-$150).

WHITE_SE_R 07-07-2008 04:43 PM

thanks alot for all the positive feed back, you guys are a good source of real world information and tuning...
Where could I go to find used oem itr sway bars?

blown90b16teg@11psi 07-08-2008 09:35 PM

just save ur money and get suspension technique swaybars. looks cool bright green. iv driven a da with simular suspension i like ST better than typeR and i go into corners fast and hard and they are 25mm i think typer is 23? correct me if im wrong

if you’re looking for the ultimate upgrade in handling, look no further. Swaybars (or “antisway bars”) control your vehicle through hard turns and sudden transistions making it easy to control and giving you very high-G cornering capability found in exotic sports cars. In fact, many less expensive Japanese and European automobiles can actually out corner and out slalom exotics from Italy such as the Ferrari F355 and Lamborghini Diablo!

Buff4Prez Yo 07-08-2008 10:42 PM

the ST rear sway bar for a DA is 19 mm. i installed mine on canada day and now highway on ramps are a blast. i dunno why i waited so long to install it.

Buff4Prez Yo 07-08-2008 11:02 PM

Oh and to the OP:
if 350 is more than what you wanna spend, look into the tein h-tech's. they're a little cheaper but still offer a slight drop of 1.7F 0.9R and excellent ride quality. if that's not enough, you can go with the s-tech which is 2.5F and 1.7R. don't forget that the 17's on 40 series is a big part of your problem too. you might wanna consider going with a smaller rim.

blown90b16teg@11psi 07-09-2008 12:14 AM

http://www.stsuspensions.com/downloa...tiswaybars.pdf

front 15/16" =24mm rear 3/4" 19mm

had the front mixed up with the rear (buff4prez yo) do u have the front as well? but even still i would recommend ST bars if u got the money huge difference

sikkkkktegra 07-09-2008 06:56 AM

daily drive means so many different things to people. be more specific in what kind of ride you want and what kind of roads you usually drive on.

if your on a budget,, keep your kyb struts.. they are great for everyday driving, and slap on a set of tien ss springs.. best bang for your buck. i use that set up on all the suspensions i do on peoples cars.. and they love it..

Royboy 07-09-2008 08:37 AM

I picked up a jdm type r rear sway bar (23mm) from jdmland.com in the states, it was just around $130 and included the frame bushings. I purchased the function7 end links and she's good to go. I would highly recomend either the JDM or the USDM sway bar, but keep in mind that the subframe on a DC is prone to ripping out unless you use a brace like the ASR or the beaks kit. Once you start putting everything together it might get expensive. I would focus on shocks/springs before worrying about the sway bars.

WHITE_SE_R 07-09-2008 03:32 PM

ok cool I wll look into that (tein s-techs) I have heard alot about these.
I relize the 17" wheels and 40 series tires are a big part of the problem, I'm looking to trade them for 15"s
Thanks again for all your feedback:yeah:
