Suspension help =)
I recently bought a 1997 Acura Integra and decided to do a Type R 5 bolt conversion.
I currently have the 4 Spindles with disks and brakes, Calipers and brake cables. What I would like to know is, since it's a Type R 5 bolt conversion, do I need Type R suspension? I'm looking to buy a coilover set and and I was also curious what everyone recommends. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance. |
yup.
you will have to get a suspension for a type r setup.... the type r setup is different then all the other integras...

^ No, it's not. The only difference is the rear lower control arms and rear shocks. You can still use the non-R rear LCAs and shocks as everything else is the same, spec wise.
knox - if you are using your stock rear lower control arms you do not need to order Type-R spec suspension. If you DO have the ITR rear LCAs and plan to use them, then you WILL need to order a Type-R suspension for the rears. Read this thread, just ignore the Koni references: https://www.torontointegras.ca/forum...ad.php?t=24874 |
engsr - thank you so much for the above mentioned information.
Since I don't have the rear type r set up, is it worth getting? If not, can anyone suggest what is a good coilover kit? Thanks in advance =) |
It's just a control arm. I highly doubt you will notice any considerable performance differences between the two. I would say it's not worth it.
"Which coilovers to get" or "Which coilovers are good" are subjective questions - everyone will tell you brand X is the best and to get it. You'd have to research it, figure out what's best for you and your budget, ask for personal experiences, etc. |
ooops

Some say the ITR ones are sturdier, but like Bryan said, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. I'm a fan of Buddy Club Racing Spec suspension and have heard good things about PIC, but that's prolly too much suspension for most people. Koni yellows with a Ground Control coilovers provide generally the best overall performance and ride quality. BC's and PICs are for the more hardcore.

Anyone heard anything about the Type II Function & Form Coilovers?
Thanks for all the great help thus far =) =) |
